If not when do we use the Net asset/capital employed? Will this be to access the business as a whole? Just a bit confused as to when to use the controllable profit and when to use the Net profit/cap employed. Clarifying this will be helpful.

As you said, ratios are misleading parameters. I agree that residual income tells the absolute values. However, in terms of negotiation between two parties, based on residual income, how can they proceed to an agreement? Because RI can be known at the end of the financial period, how can someone tell me the amount I can expect at the beginning?
