Same is true for hunting. Guys see the truck full of birds, limits for everyone. What they don’t see is the hundreds of miles of driving, scouting, getting written permission, decoys, dogs, insurance, and the best part… many many days when the weather changes, the birds move, or something happens to drive the birds off. I often hire a guide when possible when In different areas or as a special treat. I always recommend people to consider hiring a guide.

When the State of Florida made gill net fishing illegal years ago, my livelihood was taken from me. Sold my houseboat, and my house in Apalachicola, and walked away from commercial fishing. Wound up in Orlando in the HVAC industry. I'm 100% retired now. Plan on building on a 1.5 acre lot I bought in 2019 back in my hometown of Apalachicola. Life's been one helluva ride. Where I live in south Alabama there's no market so I have to get my wholesale and retail license and clean all my fish and then sell them it's exhausting!!! Truly wish someone would open up a market closer to me lol! Then you just drop them off! There's times I spend 6 to 7 hours just cleaning fish and packaging them!!!

It’s sad to hear it’s only $9 a pound. Idk your expenses but you make $5000+ and probably only get to keep 800-1200 out of that which sounds good until you realize that’s what your left with to take a paycheck and to keep as profit for the company.
