Doesn't happen much due to where I live, but when I do, I come out like a prune. 1:32-1:35 looks like you prefer the woodies.. where you out of? I think you may have said before but I can't find the comment, might be thinking of a different Ralph. @@KeyWestWaterman I currently live in Delaware and have been teaching culinary arts for 19 years. I usually head back home to spearfish on the East End of Long Island, NY (blues, stripers, blackfish, triggers). The north shore is rocky and packs many fish, and there's always Montauk!! I have smaller guns and currently making two wood guns as a project with my son. I like the feel of the wooden guns, seem they have more behind them and not so jumpy. I appreciate your opinion on them, and your reason is just fine.

Another great video, that school of jacks is just crazy... And to start the day with a perfect stone shot is such a great feeling. Well done. But...have to say I personally think that cobia polespear shot was borderline. I mean, first time in the water with a brand new polespear - with the stated goal of getting a cobia. But you have never ever used the spear and you up end taking a shot that "didn't stick". There's a fair chance It didn't stick either cuz you overestimated the power of the spear or you hugged the grip a little on letting go. Either way, it's a shame as I really think the top spearo channels have an extra obligation to show spearing at its most sustainable and you do actually do that in other videos. And though there's something to be said for also including when things don't work out I just like it more when those situations are not mostly because of rushing things. Anyhow, just my 2c...:)
@KeyWestWaterman4 жыл бұрын
it sure is! and In my opinion I didn't rush the shot at all, that fish was point blank, far less than the length of the pole away. I didn't show it in the video but the pole spear slip tip didn't toggle, it stayed on the end of the injector rod, just a malfunction with a little bad luck. sounds like you dive enough to know that sometimes it just doesn't work out! Really appreciate the feedback and thanks for watching!
@AntiVaganza4 жыл бұрын
@@KeyWestWaterman Gotcha, that's just bad luck. Honestly, it looked close but then it also looked like perhaps not enough penetration, but yeah, if the tip didn't toggle I'll let you off the keyboard warrior's hook;) As for diving enough, yeah - I used to just get my spearing in on holidays, but been stuck in the Phillippines for the best part of a year and speared more than in the past 10 years combined:) One thing that always gets me is how I need to relearn using the polespear when I pick it up. And just picking it up here, where fish are sooo skittish, takes a ton of sacrifice. But I should start doing it more often:). My dream on a pole is a doggie and it will come, one day!

Just found your channel and I'm really enjoying what I've seen so far. I was interested in knowing more of a break down on your expenses for a day out on the water like this. Yes, you did say expenses were $400, was that just and fuel and ice? Does your boat really burn that much fuel in a day? I tried to use a pole spear on my last trip and it didn't do as well as I expected. The fish where I hunt don't just sit there and take it like a Lion Fish, I think mine defiantly needs more power it a 6 or 7' Shaka Carbon from JBL any advice would be great, If I had to rely on it to make money or feeding my family we would be broke and hungry so back to the gun we go. This is my first question and hoping to hear back from you sometime soon. Thanks { oh it didn't take me long at all to smash that Subscriber button fo for your page }

Do you take parties out to fish? I live in Miami and if you take parties out to fish, I could get together with family members and friends, come down and put some money in your pocket.
