Nicely done sir. I don't like greys either, I find blue grey are better and then add a tiny bit of magenta to warm them up a little. Not sure if it's a psychological thing but I find them easier to work with then.

Gavin, Those look great! Can I make one suggestion that the top of the epualette should be red with green for the 15e Legere.

Cheers for the advice Michael on the period water colour my friend sent me they showed green crescents (i cant tell you who the author was sorry) but i did think that they could have been red so when i show the completed unit you might see a change we shall see . Regards Gav.

@@gavinbooth I hate to be that person that points out such a small detail on a beautifully painted miniature! I have a blog on the Battle of Thann where the 15e Leger fought . Btw do you wash yours blues? I like the dark color.

No worries Michael i am a painter who more or less fell into Napoleonic's all i ever say is i do my best with the information i have . I have just sent my friend an email if he agrees red then red it is if he says green they stay green . He is a collector of Napoleonic's and a client and a good friend so i defer to him ! As to the blue its the andrea blue set with out the final hi light and i added violet to the dark blue to try and get an indigo look (not that successful ) all the best . Regards Gav.

Hi John Front Rank have now been sold to Gripping Beast but when i made this video they were clean cast . They are chunky and the poses are not as dynamic as the Perry . The Perry figures are more dynamic but all the metals i have painted have needed a lot of clean up . I would suggest buy a small number of each as tests and seeing which you prefer . Regards Gav.

Great work Gav. Did I hear you say Imperial guard units like loads of drummers? I just got a battalion of old guard from front line. It had 2 drummers. I was going to swap him out but if they had loads of drummers perhaps I will add the extra drummer to my command to make 2 drummers?

Hi Anthony my client made up the 48 man unit and put in a drummer for each base sorry i have no idea on the real ratio there were jut a lot of drummers to paint compared to the two in the 36 light unit i am now painting . Regards Gav.

Its the blue set from the Andrea paint range but in the two dark blue shadow colours i add some violet and i don't use the final high light apart from on the hornist shako . Regards Gav
