Committee of Privileges debate: Indranee Rajah on report's findings on Raeesah Khan and WP leaders

Leader of the House Indranee Rajah on Tuesday (Feb 15), raised two motions on the Committee of Privileges (COP) final report on Raeesah Khan's lies to Parliament. The first motion is to agree with the recommendations of the COP relating to Ms Khan: That she is guilty of abuse of privileges of Parliament and that fines be imposed on her.
The second motion is to refer the conduct before the COP of WP leader Pritam Singh and vice-chair Faisal Manap to the public prosecutor for possible offences under the Parliament (Privileges, Immunities and Powers) Act.
Ms Indranee asked MPs to support the motions to uphold public trust in Parliament and democracy in Singapore.

Finally, we can bring Pritam Singh and Manup to court - let the impartial judges decide. PS and FM can argue their cases in court and let our impartial courts and judges decide if they lied under oath and tried to cover-up Khan's lie. This is super fair, if you allege that the PAP-filled COP is biased, then surely you will be happy that PS and FM have their day in court. If Pritam and Manup win, their names will be cleared and Khan will be doubly punished for lying under oath. If they lose, they should be rightfully exposed as self-serving dishonourable rats, and Singapore politics will be rid of such dirty politicians. Win-win right? No matter how you spin it, one of the two is lying - Pritam or Khan. And the courts will find out. This is for those Opposition supporters who have at least some morals and conscience (and also those who can take-a-punch kind, if it is a legitimate loss, can man up and take the hit): Democracy is not just about voting, elections and debates. Honesty and country-over-self values are the bedrock of Democracy. Being the opposition is not a blank cheque for opposition MPs to do whatever they like with impunity. Opposition can sometimes be less competent, that is fine. But not dishonest and crooked. Debates filled with lies and falsehoods are useless, UN-democratic and even detrimental.

Indranee what is Owernship ? Owernship means possession, Sole proprietor and having absolute Control . (Be it lies or Otherwise). Parliament is controlled by at least 80 PAP MPs. In this regard, they can pass any motion. Looking forward that PAP loses the 2/3 majority incoming GE.

Very true. And herein lies the different standards applied to PAP and the Opposition. If a PAP MP did what Pritam did, he would be 'dead and buried'. The bar for the Opposition is so low that opposition politicians can do anything and they still be hailed as heroes and everything is the PAP fault. Even when it is so clearly WP failures, somehow, it is PAP fault. Thus, they have traded ministers for opposition for opposition's sake. And they keep trading.
