What design features do base rigs have to minimize the chance of a total malfunction?

Exactly what I’m trying to figure out because with no reserve and low heights a total malfunction just seems like a straight up death sentence

@@surge127 In terms of preventing a total you would expect a well maintained velcro rig would be the safest by design, since you can't have pin issues in a rig with no pins. I think tom talks about that in his fundementals class. I always think back to that pin lock vid from 252 and nothing scares me more, as rare as it might be. And now with some of the most recent fatalities being possibly attributed to pinlocks, that velcro idea is more and more appealing.
