23 күн бұрын

In this episode of #DrinkChamps, hip hop legends #Common and #PeteRock sit down with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN to discuss their new collaborative album and the importance of celebrating the culture. They dive into their creative process, bringing the energy of the 90s into the present day, and share stories about battling in hip hop. Common speaks on Ice Cube dissing him, while also addressing Drake sending subliminal shots his way. Pete Rock opens up about his falloff with CL Smooth. The duo also weighs in on the Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake and Nas vs. Biggie debates, while reflecting on Ye's comparisons between Common and Talib Kweli. From Chicago to New York, Common and Pete Rock keep it real about staying true to the essence of hip hop.

Even though Common and Pete Rock aren't in my daily rotation and I've had other favorites on drink champs..this is by far the best drink champs episode ever. I had goosebumps watching this because of all of their collective love and admiration for hip-hop, the history lessons, all the gems they droppin, DJ EFN nerding out and getting to show love for Pete Rock. Seriously shed a tear watching these men reminisce over all of the beautiful nuances of hip-hop artistry from then til now and its evolution. This episode is a blessing and worth every second of the 3hr14min.

In 1994, Pete Rock was not embraced as an ICONIC CREATIVE. Atlantic Records thought that his process was TOO ELABORATE and many people told me that the streets didn't UNDERSTAND his CLEAN ELEGANCE. Well, here we are, A MILLION YEARS LATER, and PETE ROCK IS ONE OF THE GREAT ELDER SPIRITS.. I give thanks that i was FORTUNATE enough to KNOW BETTER.. Pete was prolific then, and MUSICALLY MONUMENTAL NOW. And that guy COMMON?!? This is about to be music to CELEBRATE LIFE. Yeah, it's always darkest before THE DAWN. IN THE PRECIOUS NAME OF JESUS, I AM GRATEFUL FOR THIS DYNAMIC DUO. The F.O.R.C.E. IS STRONG WITH these 2. Long Live THE GOLDEN SACRED ART FORM.🔥♾️🔥
