Thanks for posting this. It clarified and simplified things for me. Also appreciated the playing examples, found them helpful in sussing things out.

New subscriber! Love it! I have been very curious about TCE for many years and have been trying to convert to this system while holding down a full time principal trumpet job. I have been making small strides and totally agree that it's so difficult to determine where the tongue actually is during this learning process. Keep up the great work!

I’ve been have a lot of issues with air coming out the side of my lips when ascending and trying tce has dramatically helped that. Still trying to figure it out fully but that’s an immediate win for me!

Thanks for sharing. This video is a tremendous wealth of ideas. You have confirmed a number of them that I have been trying. I was starting to think I was going down the wrong path. Thanks for the encouragement and the reminder of baby steps. I also enjoyed the magic trick. 😄 Thanks again. I appreciated the insight from your videos. Motivates me to practice.

I enjoy your videos! Are there any trombone players out there that use the TCE method? I've searched and can't seem to find anyone posting about it.

Interesting video. I have to say, that put like that it doesn't seem a million miles from the systems advocated by Claude Gordon, Charles Colin etc and even Herbert Clarke. In all those tongue arch systems (and Clarke also mentions he anchor tongues in his study book) the tongue can easily end up touching the lower lip, especially where the lower teeth are short or eroded.

Exactly! It's not a WHOLE lot different, but the difference in my playing has been noticeable!

Great video Donovan. I've been going down the TCE road for a couple of months and my experiences parallel your quite a bit. It would be great to have a conversation sometime!

I took a lesson with Rich Colquhoun a few weeks ago - I really enjoyed that. And I suppose we are always on the search for how to make this thing easier to play, right? :D @@jppirr1031

How would you double tongue doing TCE?. I'm on the fence with it. I may switch to TCE, but The lightness of Andre's tonguing and his ability do use light diaphragm breath accents makes me think he wasn't using any anchor tonguing and you can see his masterclasses online where he explains(in French with English subs} what he is doing. I'm not seeing evidence of him using TCE methods, nevertheless I'm certainly interested.

It's really not a problem - you articulate with the top front of the tongue for "Du" and the top of the back of the tongue for "Gu".

I keep hearing “tongue between the teeth” but I want to make sure I’m understanding. Are you actually sticking the tip of your tongue through your teeth? I try that but tongue wants jump back. I can put my tongue on the back of my teeth and that works okay but I’m not sure that’s right.

I am, sometimes. But there is another way to do it, too. This video shows some other ways to go about it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJ-ckJxqndWEeK8
