Common Spoonbill: bird with remarkable beak visits De Zumpe, May 2024 (Lepelaar)

So beautiful. We get an occasional Rosette Spoonbill in my area of Coastal Delaware when they wander off course mostly during storms. I'm glad you were able to see this one and share with us. Being a big Coot fan, it was cool seeing the one on its nest. I wonder sometimes if native birds look at the unusual visitors that come through and are curious about them as much as we are! Love watching the action of the spoonbill feeding. Such a great adaptation they have.

Thank you for your nice response. The spoonbill is indeed a beautiful bird with a unique tool for spooning through the water. The coot did not seem concerned, but the cormorant didn't like all the fuss.

je hebt er wel een hoop werk van gemaakt Alex! Maar kan het me voorstellen omdat de Zumpe niet vaak wordt bezocht door Lepelaars.

Ja, dit was echt een mooie verrassing en hij was helemaal niet bang. Ik zag hem gisteren ook nog rond'lepelen'.
