Survival instinct is much stronger than logic. Logically they know it's safe, they even go there seeking for thrill. But once they're right in front of what their instinct perceive as "danger", their logic get overwhelmed by instinct, they get panic and lose control of their body. They can't move forward even though they want to.

That swing reminded me of my childhood. A rope swing, tied to a branch of a tree on the side of a hill. When you swang out, you looked down the slope knowing that a break in the rope or seat would be...bad. On the inswing we'd even have others clamber on top of us before swinging back out with multiple people on it. Absolute madness, and no way I'd do it solo as an adult 🤣

fear of height can really make the person freeze in one place.
@Katzztar
@Katzztar 2 жыл бұрын
If someone really has a phobia of falling (If fear of heights, they likely wouldn't get near that) but disbelieving 'friends' pull them out on that, a panic attack could cause more than just freezing in place. If the phobia is suddenly triggered they could start running instinctively and not have conscious thought during it. I have pyrophobia and would go with cousins to go camping. this was a time it was worse than what it is now. I could be 20ft if a campfire and lit lanterns... as long as I aware as they be lit and not taken by surprise. On cousin, Mac, forgotten to warn me and lit up a lantern. He was off to the side and so I saw the sudden flare of fire in the periphery of vision. Next thing I was aware of, I was knee deep in the lake and my heart was pounding and my uncle was yelling at one of his sons. I had ran off in a panic and even 30 yrs later, I don't remember the running, it's blank. There was a flare of fire, then boom, I'm standing in the lake.

Hm, fear for entertainment seems to be a strange concept for them, although Babu clearly figured it out :D Could be a possible direction for further videos - the concept of horror movies, ghost stories and so on. (They _must_ have some ghost stories of their own, from around their place, however...). Anyway, there are also many videos to find which explain the composition and sturdiness of security glass. That could be something for them to take a look at, too.

Oh geez, I *would* have another heart attack if I was stupid enough to try that! Anyone tried to force me on, I'd do my best to kill them....and I'm not joking. But the scene with the little girl, that's the best big brother ever, picking her up. His parents are idiots to take kids that young, but he knows what's what, bless him. Great reactions, and happy to see Babu back!
@Katzztar
@Katzztar 2 жыл бұрын
I agree with both points. 1- only fools would take really young children on that. I wouldn't be surprised if that little girl develops a fear of heights later on. I can hear some out there whine "No it won't after all, it did hurt her". I'm basing this on my own mom. When she was a little girl, her uncle that chased her around with a giant earthworm and then shoved down her back. Sure that "prank" didn't hurt her but the fear she felt then imprinted on her brain and to her dying day she has a phobia of worms. 2- I wouldn't want to get on any glass bridge and if anyone pulled me out on it, they would pay. It's not the height alone that I'm afraid of. If I can see a sturdy ground and side-barrier (fence, sm wall, ect) I am fine. But if the wall is too small, I get too nervous. And by sturdy, I mean more than it's structurally sound, it has to LOOK solid too. And that is where every glass bridge fails.
@monicapdx
@monicapdx 2 жыл бұрын
@@Katzztar Yes, she probably will have. Your great-uncle reminds me of a cousin I have. Your poor mom. He finally stopped playing practical jokes on me when he made the mistake of trying one when we were target shooting on my parents' farm with a .22 rifle. I out-shot him while making a few pointed remarks. Strange, I found the thing he'd hidden back in my backpack shortly afterward... Yeah, some of those walls weren't all that high. I can stand at an edge with a good barrier, and I've had no problems going over a suspension bridge up in Vancouver BC; but I tried to climb a landmark built like a moderate lighthouse once, with a spiral stair of steel grating. I got 3 steps up, looked down, and froze. Surprised the heck out of me, but talk about a learning experience!
@mjade1673
@mjade1673 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right. Agree completely. They are either idiots or neglectful mean parents. Idiots will think the experience will strengthen her not knowing she is too young for that and that what it actually teaches her is that you will not protect her and that is Far more damaging than the phobias she will get. And mean parents just lie and say they do not love to watch her suffer, when exactly they do.

Yes, as a child, my mother’s school tied ropes around the kid’s waists and then threw them into the deep end of a pool, to try to teach them to swim. This traumatized my mother, and she never did learn how to swim, and she had a fear of water for the rest of her life!

Ironically, the most dangerous thing about this bridge is that people panic in fear. And it's way more dangerous when they try to jump up on the side of the bridge - risking falling over the side - than for them to stand on the glass. Or people get paralysed with fear - but then they are staying on the glass bridge for longer than if they'd just walked off it. This is the problem with fear. It makes people behave irrationally, and there is more danger from how they panic and freak out than the bridge itself poses to them, as terrifying as, yes, walking over such a height with only glass below you seems (I know I'd not be keen to cross that bridge).

The glass on that bridge is so strong that it can hold small vehicles without any real damage to the bridge.

Sarru is scared of most things, not just heights. He says most animals, situations and even sports are " dangerous"

One of the glass bridges shown in this video (the one with slightly curved in white railings) actually did break last May, and a man was left hanging and holding onto the railing. Supposedly it failed because it was damaged by high wind. They can be dangerous if not checked for safety regularly. I would still walk on them though. I'm the person who always stands on the glass floor in super tall towers, like the C.N. Tower in Toronto, or the Tokyo SkyTree in Japan.

so are the shoe coverings to keep people from making marks on the glass or so you can pull your friends across when they get stuck??

Even though they were told it’s special effects I guess they still kept thinking it’s actually breaking and dangerous but it’s not at all (: I love heights so I’d dance across or something heh

I can't stand seeing scared people especially children, so I turned it off after the baby little girl. But wishing a Happy and healthy New Year to all of you at the Common Man Show, one of my fav channels!

I don't think I would ever walk on a bridge like this. I can't even climb 3 steps on a ladder without feeling dizzy. But those who do cross this bridge are very brave.
