Irish dancers dance on the spot, because in the old days, in rural Ireland, they took out the wooden door of their tiny houses and laid it on the muddy uneven ground. Neighbours often gathered to join in with music and singing. The wooden door gave the tapping sound, but also limited the dancers in making big movements, due to the small size of the dance “floor”. Greetings from Ireland ☘️ Erin go bragh 🇮🇪

It is very important to understand the reason behind the form of this Irish dance. When the English controlled Ireland, they tried to destroy Irish culture and language. One way they tried to do so was to make dancing illegal. Instead of no longer dancing, the Irish focused on the movement of the legs and feet, keeping their arms still and by their sides. That is why Irish dancers almost never use their arms today. This allowed the dancer to deny that they were in fact dancing if an authority tried to stop them. In this context, it is important to understand that Irish dance became a form of resistance and defiance of authority. It is lively and irrepressible. The performance of the individual dancer is more important than coordinating perfectly with another dancer, or moving in absolute synchronization with others. The importance of Irish dance is to preserve identity and resist authority.

This was a very important moment for Irish pride as well as the entire Gaelic diaspora around the world. It took the cultural traditions and portrayed them in a modern form that felt epic and elegant and even sexy. I grew up with Celtic musical traditions, as part of the Celtic diaspora in Canada, and for our culture to suddenly become cool was a big moment. You might be interested in the recent rise of artists who fuse Celtic music with Indian music. I moved to a region of Canada with a large Punjabi population, and I learned about a local band called Delhi 2 Dublin that fused Irish sounds with Punjabi sounds as well as modern sounds, and it reignited by childhood interest in Celtic music. I've since learned about artists such as The Snake Charmer, and bands like Jiggy, that also combine Celtic and Indian music together. There's some commonality between the two cultures that makes the music fit together seamlessly and naturally, and it's beautiful to hear.

The manner in which these gents observe the culture of others and the fact that they have a default intense level of real respect should be noted by all. This data should be converted into how we all act, the manner of our military and trade agreements and our respect for things that are different from ourselves, yet possibly vastly superior due to them being pure, unaffected by the western cult of self and ego. They truly are men of 'Eden'. Each of them is different, yet they come to instant moral agreement on what is beautiful and noble in the world. May God love you and hold you forever. May your children have many children, each stronger and wiser than the last. May God, in time, give you the place that you peacefully and lovingly deserve. I am not referring to expressed genetics, I am referring to outlook, which all good men may choose and are not bound by the choices of their fathers. This is a Holy and righteous video for those that see within what can be seen.

I think they would enjoy the 1989 movie Tap. It starred the amazingly talented Gregory Hines, as well as many of the greatest tap legends known to American vaudeville and theater. The young boy was played by Hines' student, Savion Glover, who has become in his own right a major influence in dance. There is also Baz Luhrmann's 1992 film Strictly Ballroom. They may not understand the camp humor, or the backstabbing theatrics of competitive dance, but the many dance scenes are spectacular, and I think they would appreciate that it is an old traditional dance, the Spanish Paso Doble that eventually wins.
