I have cerebral palsy and I struggle with communication. My specific problems that I struggled with is getting my thoughts in order and saiding it in the correct way so I dont offend, confuse or start arguments on accidents because that sadly does happen. I'm not being understood or heard, I'm being pushed aside and thought of as secondary. Why? Because its easier to just ignore her then try to hear her out and understand what she is trying to say. I accidentally twisted my own words around when they are coming out of my mouth and people dont like to give you time to think about what you want to say and then slowly and deliberately saying all of the things I'm thinking so I dont get it worng. Instead they grow bored, frustrated and then they get angry, blow up on me and then yell at me, and I get sad and confused and hurt. It's a really hard life to live when no one understands, wants to understand, and doesn't give you the time you need to get everything out properly. People always think I'm trying to fight with them because I want to be apart of the conversation and say my opinions on it to, but they take it the worng way or they dont understand what I'm trying to say they get confused so I try to explain it again then they say well that's not what you said, why do you always gotta be changing your mind, why cant you understand anything and say it the right way? what's worng with you? your crazy! Its really hard and it beats you down and takes away any self value because no matter what you say your alway in the worng because I cant help but accadently say it in the worng way. And when I do say something in the worng way and I catch myself, I try to back up and say Hold up I didn't mean to say that I dont know why I just said it like that. What I was trying to say was __ _ ____ __ _. But before I can do that people are jumping to conclusions and saying that I'm a liar, I'm not truthful, I'm stupid, an idiot, a retarded, a hateful person, just anything else that's not good they've said to me. I just dont know what to do, how to help them understand, how to help me communicate better, just help in general I need because it's all getting way out of hand. Its affected my daily life even when in not around people like for instance I cant sleep, eat, I'm always said and scared someone is gonna attack me for what I say so I just stay to myself. I just really need some guidance form anyone who can provide some kind of help thankyou for taking your time to read this.

Never give up and never apologise for asking for what you need. I am a master of music therapy student and I am thinking about working with people with CP to help them work on their speech and communication to try and improve and give them the ability to communicate freely. Thank you for sharing your story ♥️
