1. As of 12/1/2021 I am no longer a student pilot. But for a couple of flights after my checkride I still added "{tail#} is a student pilot..." when I contacted Approach. Now that I don't say that anymore, I find the Boston controllers will still slow down with us GA pilots if we speak slowly enough. 2. I highly recommend the Opposing Bases podcast. They are controllers AND pilots, and talk a lot about how most controllers are there to help (not to be bossy). They also occasionally discuss how controllers have bad days too. There's a ton of great advice about how to negotiate and collaborate with ATC. Thanks for doing your KZbin channel! The tone, to me, is like having an EAA Chapter guest speaker (with periodic visuals to keep me focused). And I like the 10-15 minute duration. It's not a glitzy "show" (not that I'm opposed to those - I love Steve1Kinevo, Flight Chops, Premier1Driver, Aviation 101, etc.) But this is a nice change of pace that feels "personal".

Thank you Peter for your comment. I will check out the opposing bases podcast. Great information. Also, thank you for your kind comments. The casual tone was exactly what I was aiming for. It’s just hangar talk for pilots. Take care, enjoy flying and stay safe.

I hope ya do, excellent advice and observations. Very down to earth, I've experienced many of the things your discussing and done what you suggested. It is very important especially for male pilots to leave the macho ego at home.

Agreed. The words macho and ego can be translated into another word which may be more accurate- insecurity. Here's a link you might enjoy. Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching. 7 TRAITS GREAT PILOTS HAVE IN COMMON From

Hi Cam. Are you still flying as of April 2023? If so, how is the ATC communications progressing?
@camsmeltzer9388 Жыл бұрын
@@craigshangar4958 I am indeed still flying although not nearly enough lately. However, ATC communications has gradually improved. I’m flying out of class D (KCIC) and use my instructors advice on anticipating what ATC is going to ask before getting on the radio. Definitely write it down! ATC knows I’m a student so they go out of their way to help me along -much appreciated!

Volume/Readability Volume on a scale of 1 to 5. Readability on a scale of 1 to 5 e.g. 5 X 5 = Loud and Clear 2 X 3 = Weak and Readable At least that was what I was taught in USAF HF Radio Operators Course in 1992.

Thanks for the piece of information. You're the first pilot that's been able to explain it to me. Makes perfect sense. Thanks for your comment. And thanks for watching.
