Holy Spirit has taught me a personal process by which to become intimate with my Father. We are all different so our time with our King will inevitably look different.
When I started partaking in communion as a regular part of my intimate time with the Lord, I had no idea what I was doing, so I asked Holy Spirit to help me. This is not a one-size-fits-all process, nor is it even the best that has been written on the subject. This is just one lovesick lover of God hanging onto every word He tells me, every process He teaches me and, now, sharing those with you.
One morning as I sat with Him, He asked, “Katherine, do you love me? Do you believe that I died for your sins and disease? Do you believe that I am your Healer and your Provider? Do you believe that there is power in communion? Do you believe that I want to spend time with you?” I was so overwhelmed with the truths that began to wash over me as He posed these questions. He is my healer; He is my provider; He is my source of strength when afflicted by disease; He loves me and wants to be with me. I had to think carefully about His question: “Do you believe that there is power in communion?” I looked up “communion” in the online dictionary. Communion: sharing or exchanging of intimate thoughts and feelings, especially on a mental or spiritual level. The service of Christian worship at which bread and wine are consecrated and shared. Similar words: fellowship, kinship, friendship, community, togetherness, closeness, sharing, connection, communication, accord and unity. What struck me were the words: fellowship, friendship, communication, intimate thoughts and feelings, harmony and unity. I said to my King, “Father, this is what I am doing with you every day.” He laughed - and He started to teach me, over many months, how to have daily communion with Him and to stand on the power and authority of the cross and all that He died for.
