I see his concerns with technology but I personally feel that it's just as bad to be wallowing around in some uptopian commune getting all touchy feely like as it is to control your people through technology... The big distinction though is that without our technology we will wither away and die...the choices we make over the next 300 years regarding the role of technology will determine the ultimate fate of humanity.... Do we die in 10,000 years or do we live on for ten million. People never really consider the bigger picture that while yes you are an individual you are still a cog in a machine that is humanity. An individual is nothing more than an animal and you aren't really human until you are part of the group in some capacity. Bey might think he's individualistic but he's really just in denial. Idk though knowing him he probably knows this damn well and is just like yeah whatevs

An Elderly person pining for "they way it was when he was a boy" UGh! Annoying. Societies change and evolve and they always have. The society of the 15th century would be unrecognizable to us. Does that make it a better place to live? Not so much. Seems to me there was a guy by the name of Pol Pot who wanted to return Cambodia back a thousand years. Didn't work, tore the country apart and killed millions. They're still recovering.
