The only rational for DST was saving fossil fuels used for lighting (candles, coal, etc), to be in sync with how agrarian society functions. It's outdated and unscientific

It's so that time can be consistent for people. So rather than changing the time for school by an hour for half the year and changing the opening and closing times for stores, they just change the actual clock to fit in a way that gives us the maximum amount of daylight... it makes it that if something starts at 7am during one part of the year, we won't have to change it to 8am the next part...

Shifting and hour is something both we and animals needs time to get used to, which is why you see more traffic accidents and reduced productivity in the days after we change the clock. We don't follow the daylight that closely anymore, so there really isn't a need for the change and unlike other things, which just are fun reminders of times past, this is actually harmful.

@@winterwolf211 Not all countries follow daylight saving time and those that do, do not shift at the same time. It could very well be the reason why your favorite KZbinrs shifted scheduling time, but there could be other reasons as well. As for waking up and going to sleep, the problem is, that if you have to get up at 7 am for work, you would still get up at that time, but since you shifted the clock an hour, your inner clock would either feel like it is an hour earlier or later, depending on the time of the year. You can compare it to jet lag, our personal rhythm is offset with the rhythm of the society, but here we are talking about a nation wide jet lag, which is a bad thing.

And honestly, for humans, sleeping at night and waking up during day is what's best, so we set our clocks to what is overall best for the body.
