My best advice is to stick with the same type paint, meaning if you use a lacquer primer, use lacquer base coat, you can use 2k urethane clear over the lacquer, and the 2k urethane does have a shelf life, hope this helps Vinny

Scale finishes have new glass bottles for their clear hardener that is supposed to have a much longer shelf life.......yes you can use other primer brands....I do and never had any problems......the clear I actually use about 15-20% Mr. Leveler.....it makes it spray much better and smoother......and Jameston Kroon offers great customer service......I hooes this helps Vinny.......Merry Christmas

Going to be a long reply here Vinny. I’ve been using scalefinishes for quite some time. You can use any normal brand primer under his stuff. I’ve used Tamiya, Mr hobby, Stynylrez and his own. You’ll be fine with pretty much whatever. It really is great paint. Make sure you get it shaken up really well or mixed really well because it will separate quite a bit. You don’t need to thin it if it’s well mixed. I spray it around 25 psi through a 0.5 needle and it lays down beautifully. The base coat stuff is always going to be matte. You can get any of his colors in base coat lacquer but there’s a drop down menu for options on most of his colors and you can also choose gloss enamel if you prefer a glossy finish. Just something to keep in mind. So the base coat stuff just means at the very least you’ll need a clearcoat or a mid coat and then a clear coat. Depending on the look you want. Now the 2k. He puts the expiration on the 2k because ALL 2k hardener goes bad. It solidifies. He’s just trying to protect his customers. Jameston is a great guy with great customer service. Email him if you have problems. The product isn’t bad, especially if you’ve never opened it but eventually it will. But like I said, that’s ALL 2k products. I hope some of this helps. If you have any questions get ahold of me and I’ll try to help.

I haven’t jumped in and bought an airbrush yet. So I don’t have a clue…😂😂😂 Have a great week, Vinny!

I occasionally airbrush but don't use a base coat. I do use primer and the primer color does affect the paint. Good luck in your quest.😊

Hi Vinny, the green screen can be a lot of fun to play around with. I wish I could help with your paint questions, but I'm not familiar with that brand of paint. Have a great day. Jeff

Scalefinishes has a flake in it thats a bit larger. Using a larger needle size is necessary. You dont have to use their primer. I have used Mr Finisher with no issues. Keep in mind they are automotive grade, make sure to use a primer with some filler. I have allowed their stuff to sit a year after purchase with no issues. The 2K clear will have a shelf life but for the most part you have plenty of time.

I have no experience with that brand of paints, so can't really help you there. I would use the same brand primer just to be on the safe side.

I think I said it before, I don't know what I'm doing painting, just if it looks good I keep it otherwise I strip it off and try again. Have a good week.

ScaleFinishes has great spraying products that need no thinning. You can use a different brand primer, but can't complain to them if something goes wrong. All of the lacquer paints spray out dull and require a clear coat to come out shiny. Their enamels are supposed to spray out shiny without clear coating. The 2K clears all have an expiration date, which, like you, I don't like. I've seen where guys buy automotive quart cans of 2K clears and those last far longer than the ones purchased from model specific brands.

I think 🤔 you need to use a fine primer for you wont cover up the details area im going to enjoy the spray painting part i don't think you need to worry about the expired date
