This is amazing! I watched showcases from channels like game maker's toolkit, those were nice and polished games, nice content, nice gameplay and animations, however this can never be compared with the games you showed. It is like adding another depth to the game, a lot of innovative ideas appear, it is total different from what you see on market nowadays, now I slowly understand why the games I played in my childhood hold such a dear place in my memory.

A lot of fun stuff that the community made! I hope to see more videos on procedural generation. You mentioned saving user manipulations in the functions, rather than hard coded. That sounds very interesting. Additionally it would be very interesting to explore it further with say proceduraly generated agents, who interact with the world, each other and the users. Many thanks for the work.

greetings from istanbul. so far, and as far as i know, this is the best comprehensive yt channel on programming, c++, vs and game/graphics programming. congratulations, and i do appreciate your time and effort. the projects are all relevant, the code is provided, and explanations are all complete... one minor suggestion if you kindly list some available books to gain more technical and theoretical background on those projects and topics, that would help newcomers tremendously. thanks a lot and best regards...

Regarding the "super emulator" concept talked about towards the end: from what little info I can gather about its development, I think Sonic 3 AIR might be an example of that in action! It's a remaster that uses the original game's ROM and assets but adds in widescreen support among other tweaks. Great video as always! I might have to hop into the community at some point based on what I'm seeing!

Even if I started coding in the 90's and have mostly worked on enterprise applications, I have attempted coding games (and did so in the DOS era) but realized that I'm very slow at it. Seeing all these showcases is quite motivating for me, because I do not compare myself with AAA game development boxes when I see more down-to-earth examples of what others do :D In a way, it feels like the time when people built their own computers. It's quite nostalgic but encouraging at the same time.
@seditt51463 жыл бұрын
I also started during the DOS days, took a brake to do the whole starting a family and having kids thing and came back a couple years ago to find much has changed but it is definitely worth it. Stuff that felt like a pipe dream back then and took ages to create and get working can be done better these days. That is not even to mention the stuff that was flat out impossible back then like my favorite stuff to do which is various AI and Physics simulations hence the reason I spend much of my time coding merging the two projects into a single unit If you have not programmed in sometime I highly recommend getting back into man. Its great and you always have Javids PGE to make program creation far simpler than it was back in the day.

• 13:00 - The KZbin channels Olbaid Fractalium and Maths Town have been posting some mind-blowing videos of fractals for a while. Olbaid's Menger-run and Shadow-brot were really something else. 🤯 • 14:24 - Yeah, I'm not so much into writing programs or games, I prefer to make tools and libraries. 🤷 • 16:25 - The Windows PowerToys calculator could do graphing; that was almost built-in. • 23:40 - I miss POV-Ray. • 24:20 - FutureCrew or bust. Actually no, Farbrausch! 👍 • 24:17 - Interesting that for copyright purposes, KZbin prioritizes music over everything else. 🤔 • 27:29 - … and caustics are dodged. • 38:04 - Do this for _Starquake_ and _Cybernoid 1/2_ ! 😀👍 (Oh, and maybe _Metroid_ as well. 🤷)
