"They're THIS close, Pierce!" (This is the last time I'm uploading this. If I missed any other Regionals references, too bad) From season 3, episode 10 - "Regional Holiday Music" (I own nothing, all due credit to Sony and NBC)

I wonder if it's just a shortened version of Regina Hall's name. Or fans of Regina Halls. Or something naughty about Reggie Mantle. .... Those two should have a TV show. "Reg and Reg". Then they could go back in time to guest on Mr. Philbin's show.

Pierce was great in season 1 and parts of season 3. In season 2 it was obvious Harmon let his issues with Chase affect the portrayal of the character.

Technically, the first "regionals" was in Season 2's fake clip show when the head of the barbershop class(?) tells Jeff "Nice job, Mr. Winger. Somebody's going to regionals." (Quote may be wrong, but he definitely said 'regionals'.)

I started watching Community in 2014 and when I saw joke in Regional Holiday Music i literally couldn't stop laughing. In 2012, I test-watched an episode of glee and heard someone say "regionals" and I was like, "what the hell are regionals". This episode was made for me.

Mandi Lu yeah I used to love Glee but halfway through season 2 it got absolutely awful and I gave up. Same happened with Big Bang Theory. I got through 5 seasons and it started sucking, then I found community. The greatest show in the world.
@ALu-nq8rf7 жыл бұрын
Community, Galavant, some of the greatest shows to grace the silver screen, are so underrated and get cancelled due to low ratings. :/ Glee had potential but for some reason they had to try and squeeze every social justice issue into their plots instead of making it more character driven.

The first 13 episodes of GLEE, which ends with them winning sectionals, Sue being suspended, Will being reinstated as director of New Directions, Will ditching his wife, and Emma and her fiance calling off their engagement, were perfect television. And it ended nicely, too. Then the show went on hiatus in December 2009 for the winter break, and in that time, the show became a phenomenon. The soundtrack of the first half of the season also became an instant bestseller. I think all of that influenced the second half of the first season and what came afterward, because when Season One resumed in April 2010, it was another animal entirely. Suddenly, there were too many fantasy song sequences and episodes devoted entirely to an artist's discography for no reason other than to sell more albums of their covers. That's when it died for me and I stopped watching. But to this day I still watch the first half of the first season, which could've/should've been a movie of its own.

Fun fact: As competitions, regionals are the second level, sectionals come first. However, Taran Killam says later that "if we win regionals, then it's straight up to sectionals", implying that they haven't won anything at all. Sure, it's the nonesense of it all, but that means everytime they say "we are THIS CLOSE to regionals", they are saying "we are THIS CLOSE to signing up by filling and sending the application".
