I think the writers did Chevy dirty here. This could have been one of the many times Pierce made a change or at the very least stayed the same and didn't continuously get meaner and more of an asshole. I genuinely liked Pierce as a character for most of the time he was in the show and I really liked Chevy Chase playing a millionaire man-child who wants to belong but because of his wealth and upbringing is kind of stuck looking in on the outside with outdated ideas. They could have turned him around to be more like season one where he would say something that was off color but still be likable overall and they didn't and it's a shame.

This show had the best little moments like the cool air blowing into the hot room as a symbol of what helping each other, or engaging in community action if you will, feels like. Another really great moment is Shirley giving her Brownies speech as Troy and Abed sing to their rat and Jeff gets Chang to dance with his ex wife, something about that one was deeply authentic to the vibe of community college campuses after sunset.
@disk30014 жыл бұрын
man, its sad that Jeff never got back his job and gradually gotten worse and worse as a lawyer and went insane. really hoping (especially since Netflix streaming is breathing new life to this show) that we can get the Movie to wrap things up on a happier note. The ending we got was good but very bitter sweet , which is fitting for Dan Harmon I guess
@Papersheepp4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I always found his story arc to be the saddest. He tried to get back into the game and do what he loved, but failed and eventually came back to greendale to a pretty dead-end position. Everyone else in the group had friends, family, ambitions - Jeff had his law career, and that just never happened. I felt like he had nothing to look or work forward to in seasons 5/6. It was very sad
@mrcritical67514 жыл бұрын
If anything that shows the depth of Jeff’s character, he’s the one that bit the bullet and stayed at Greendale so the others could evolve and move forward in life. Troy will eventually come back and take over a share in Hawthorne Wipes, Annie got a job at the FBI, Britta reconnected with her parents and finally got a stable job, Shirley spun-off and helps a P.I., Abed gets to finally work in TV, Dean Pelton now gets to run a Greendale that’s improving and becoming better than it was, Hickey gets to run a funeral service so others don’t have to go through what he did when trying to bury his dad, Elroy’s skills in web design are finally being used as he got a job at LinkedIn, Chang’s finally accepted by the group and has a group of people who’ll keep him in check, Frankie is employed by somebody who won’t be put off by how overly professional she is and we don’t know what happened to Duncan.

@@henrypeters5291 I agree, I enjoyed most of season 5, but the first episode felt like a huge step back in it explanation of why the characters got back together, especially for Shirley who litterally lost all her family arc. And in the long run Britta and Jeff deserved better. Especially Britta if you ask me, everything got worse for her to the point of being stuck as a barmaid after becoming homeless. Like, she was trying to be a therapist and had a will to "take care of people until she pukes" and she doesn't accomplish any of that.
