I couldn't understand how exactly the commutators keep the current flow in the same direction?
@anjanibhatt99535 жыл бұрын
Mee too... actually when there is a break in split rings {( )} like here at the top and bottom.. the metal split rings keep contact with the brush so the current won't stop flowing...afterwards its changes the direction of current in rings to rotate anti clock wise
@theeachuisge5 жыл бұрын
Anjani Bhatt still don't understand. Doesn't the direction of magnetic force thus the current change either? So how does it make it flow in the same direction all the time?

@@theeachuisge I'll tell u but i know u r clear with the topic...... But still so we have aABCD rectangular coil and when current flows through it it experience a force so ABCD starts rotating butwhen the rectangular coil is in the vertical position then the brushes are touching the gaps but at that time the coil does not stop rotating because it gained enough momentum due to which it goes beyond the vertical position...... So now we have CD on left side and AB on right.... Which the reverse of the position which we have firstly before the rotation occurs..... And now the CD experience downward force and AB experience Upward force so it again moves and then the cycle continues........ Hope I explained correctly and u understand it😊

@@immyself9491 thnx bro i had some trouble understanding the concept as a whole,but with your explanation i managed to kind of grasp it. Just one question though, so at the beginning the coil is in a horizontal position AB on the left, CD on the right,when the current starts going through it , magnetic force is being applied on AB and CD, upward force on AB and downward force on CD, so it rotates to the right(We used the right hand principle which describes how the force is perpendicular to the direction of the current). Now when the coil reaches the vertical position , in which the brushes are in the holes of the two rings, the coil continues rotating because of the momentum it has gained,which gives it enough momentum for the brushes to go beyond the position in the rings with the two holes. So after that in order for the coil to continue rotating to the right, the forces change their positions right? Downward force on AB and upward force on CD,this happens due to another change in the directions of the current(right hand principle) and so this process repeats until the source of electricity stops giving it current. I know this is kind of long, hard to read and probably to understand, but i just want to make sure i understand it fully. Are the things that I have written correct?

I have a doubt....at 1:41 we can see that the brushes are in contact with both the segments...i.e. the upper as well as lower one ...so doesn't this create any kind of problem in the flow of current or short circuit..??
