My personal favorite is Bruticus. The individual parts are just so intelligent and their playable missions in Fall of Cybertron were super fun! I can easily imagine a battle with the Combaticons constantly combining and uncombining Bruticus to confuse and overwhelm an enemy.

ROTF Devastator remains my favorite, minus the wrecking balls (though they do still get a chuckle). Even though he's just a big, lumbering beast, it fits for a hundred foot tall robot called _Devastator._ He was terrifying and had one of the coolest CGI transformations in the franchise imo. Though I can understand why people might dislike it, it was certainly different

I agree. Movie version definitely gave us a realistic definition of a Cybertronian combiner. Chances are, when a team scouts for vehiclrs, they will have different colos, thus when they finally combine, Devastator looks multicolored because of all the different vehicles. Three red vehicles, two gray vehicle, and six yellow vehicles, creating a combination out of twelve.

the constructicons has always been my favorite combiner team. they aren't disloyal like the combaticons, utter psychos like the stunticons, arrogant dumbasses like the aerial bots or totally forgettable like the technobots and the protectobots. they always felt like a proper team. they had different personalities but it never interfered with what ever the job they were given. and they took pride in the things they created. so yeah, nothing will ever beat the OG team.

ROTF Devastator is unmatched. The amount of detail and overall design is so unique, it’s what arguably drew me to wanting to learn more about Transformers as a kid. To this day my favorite combiner, the Constructions especially Hightower and Scavenger/ Demolisher are my favorites design wise with how elaborated and Inhumanoid they are.

I had the big revenge of the fallen devastator toy and it was pretty fun sure the limbs didn’t have their own robot modes but I still enjoyed it. I also don’t mind the design since it goes with what they were trying to do with the Constructicons in general in the film with the whole freaky monster robot modes. Honestly, my favorite Devastator has always been ROTF Devastator. I like that it’s much more unique to G1, and I like the ideas that went into its design. The name "Devastator" was actually an editing mistake. Brawl is his real name, and he's called that in all the merchandise, comics and games. During production of the movie, one of Brawl's working names was Devastator, with the name Brawl being decided late in production. Sadly, the editing department didn't get the memo.

A thing with Constructicon Maximus/ Classics Devastaor Maximus is that the toy is the most stable one out of the three combiners. It can pull off some good poses, doesn't need to have a leg doing the splits and has decent articulation. Bruticus Maximus comes on second place since he is a stable combiner but has his own issues and Superion Maximus....not the most stable one out of the group.

My favorite is one you denigrated, and that would be All Hail Megatron Devastator. If you bothered to examine it for more that a couple seconds you'd see the design is quite clever. They redesigned him so that you don't need external pieces to form the big guy. The treads, which are usually just sitting at the shoulders, now make the forearms. and the lack of chest piece is an extension of that. This version of Devastator is the minimalist version, and I kinda love that about him. If you think about it when making Devastator, even with the updates that the toys have brought, you can't actually form Devastator without including extra pieces. The arms just pop up out of nowhere, The purple chest piece doesn't actually integrate into them and Hasbro had to turn them into weapons and accessories to justify them outside of the combined form. All others at most just need hands and feet added.

I love the idw Prowlstator. Probably the most interesting thing thats been done with Devastator or Prowl as characters. The look into combine psychology was neat. I'm surprised at how much I liked Zone OVA Devastator. He is like an upgraded futuristic version of our regular familiar G1 Devastator, with a cape, crown, and drill instead of sword. He is like Coronation Starscream compared to regular Starscream, except he didn't get evaporated by the likes of Galvatron.

I think, much like Wreck-Gar and Prowl, Animated would have likely given us a different yet inspired update on Devastator's design. It's a shame everything, bar Bayformers, sticks too closely to G1.

Devastator, just like all cybertronians, is alien. He doesn't have to look like a giant human. His design in Bayverse is original and unique, it's a really good take on a giant ALIEN robot, who's primary purpose is to destroy stuff. I don't care about g1 - it's boring and stupid, and there's a lot of it. Bayverse Devastator is interesting and unique, and I love him.
