I feel initially we all hated the idea of DOTM Megs turning into a truck, but I'm so glad that it grew on everyone and is actually a GOATED design because I can at least give the production team props for doing something bold and different with the character, even if he wasn't in the movie that much.

@@je2409if you think about it it makes sense considering he was on the run as a fugitive since the Egypt battle and had no other choice nor enough energon to handle a mode like another jet or tank. I think it also symbolizes a weaker and more defeated Megatron considering he is badly wounded and turning into an Earth vehicle takes away that Cybertronian pride he always had, I mean in the previous film he said something like “It’s time for the world to know our presence, no more disguises!”

Animated Megatron will always be my favourite. It takes the original G1 design and amplifies it in all the right areas - the Fusion Cannon especially. I also really like his helicopter mode, and how he uses the blades from it as a pair of swords in the show. I've also noticed you're sounding a lot more energetic lately, especially compared to your first attempt at this tier list. It's great to have you back!

I kinda like it when you can't tell what a transformer changes into. Tbh when I see transformers I don't see them as a singular fixed thing, but an expressive individual with a general theme that reflects how it feels in the long term or short term, like a person's fashion reflecting their mood and personality And TFP Megs has always been my favourite out of favouritism, while most IDE Megs designs always left me in awe, but now tfes Megs just has me with his vibes as well as personality. Everything just goes together so well, I love his character

I would argue Megatron is probably the most fun TF character to re-design. While most characters have core elements kept between iterations (Optimus, Starscream, Shockwave just to name a few), Meg has been just about everything. It was only until TFA Megatron returned to the classic Grey/Silver Bucket head look. Even then, they vary drastically.

I think Earthspark Megatron’s redemption works mainly because we don’t see much (if any) of his worst crimes, so we don’t have heavy atrocities lingering over his presence. Prime Megatron, though? We have three whole seasons to see him be a brutal warlord attempting to effectively raze Earth to nothing. IDW Megatron managed to balance this out because the medium of comics offered him more time and space to redeem himself - a TV show doesn’t have this extent of freedom.

Michael Bay’s Megatron will always be my favorite as I was introduced to transformers via the 2007 movie, when I was 6 years old. I love his design in all of the movies, especially the first three. He looks and sounds like a beast and I love it! It actually makes me terrified of him😅

I grew up with the Transformers Michael Bay movies and Transformers Prime, so they're my favorite versions of him. I honestly really like his Last Knight appearance. But Transformers Prime Megatron is perfect. I also oddly really like his Sharkticon Beast Hunter look. In my head Fusion Canon, I imagine that's him after he exiles himself and he wants nothing to do with his Decepticon past, so he's no longer using his fusion cannon and is now hunting what's left of the Quintessons. Anyways, from the bit I know of Transformers Animated, I could see why people really like that version of Megatron. He may not have Frank Welker voicing him but he sounds absolutely intimidating! I haven't seen Earth Spark, nor do I think I ever will. But Megatron looks better than I thought and he even looks better than Optimus in that series.

I’d love for them to do a tv show focusing on the Autobots, despondent and tired of fighting the war, evacuating to Earth and hiding out. From there they become inspired to fight again because of humanity and finding beauty in Earth when the Decepticons attack. I think it would be a really cool juxtaposition and subversion on tropes where aliens from another world become inspired to fight and live again by seeing our planet instead of hating it first thing. Especially when a part of humanity today carries a cynical view on our world. While an extraterrestrial civilization finds hope instead of despair.

The Human Megatron from IDW was from a brief storyline where one of the crew of the Lost Light (the missionary ship that Megatron was sentenced to serve on as part of a legal loophole he found to save himself from execution after the war) managed to generate an entire copy of a sitcom version of Earth that was trailing their ship and causing problems. To resolve it, they had to send down holomatter avatars (basically transformers in this series could create a solid projection of a human avatar to interact with civilians) and this old man was Megatrons.

He was given a tainted stock of energon as his rations due to how dangerous he was, and had no confidence whatsoever in himself or his dogma. He was being hunted by those who used to look up to him, and leading those who were incompetent and despised him. The avatar reflects its owner, and at this point Megs was at his lowest. His arc was learning his worth, and realizing the consequences of his actions. Highly recommend

1: Dudes I love Megatron's 1st transformation in Transformers: Earth Spark. It's not just him rearranging and shifting around parts or pulling things out of hammerspace, he straight-up turned inside out. Coming out of his disguise. The next Transformers thing needs to do their changes like that. And 2: While I'm one of the few smart people who actually hopes that Megatron never shows up in the remake films, cuz that kind of thing was the problem with all the live action X-Men and Fantastic Four films (Except for the first one of both, I mean the 1994 one for Fantastic Four), if they were to bring him into those; they need to use Animated Megatron for the foundation.

My favourite Megatron design is Armada Megatron (yes, nostalgia because he was the version I was introduced to as a child, but even now I find him to be the best and most fitting design for Megatron), followed by Energon Megatron. Armada Megatron is like a brutal warlord while Energon Megatron looks more like conquering king or emperor and I love both. I don't actually like the G1 version of Megatron at all because the alt mode just seems so lacking (as opposed to a tank or a gunship which both evoke such a sense of power and brute force...) and the robot mode is kinda bland.

Tbf, in Superlink (Japanese Energon), the version of the character we call “Megatron” was called Galvatron, even prior to the repaint they changed that for the English dub, I think it’s due to trademark reasons, or smth like that.

He ended up somehow able to materialize a planet with his projector, it being like Earth but with things basically being a sitcom. I dont know how this sounds but the live action decepticons sort of gave me the vibe of predatory animals whereas the autobots look more familiar. In the first live action movie megatrons head resembled the mandibles of a spider instead of the helmet we're used to in other transformers media.

Human Megatron is a holomatter (solid light) avatar. In the More Than Meets The Eye comics the crew of the Lost Light used them to mingle among smaller lifeforms. You know, 'cause Transformers are gigantic. Supposedly the avatar adapts its form from its user's psyche, so it was partially passed as a joke when Tailgate's avatar became a baby, Whirl became a Jinx-esque psychotic teen girl and Cyclonus was a high class lady.

Megatron's design is always a blast. While he has his igonic elements (fusion canon, bucket head, large and imposing, etc), he is never the same. This is a rather cold point to discuss at this point, but seeing all the departures, reinventions, and fresh takes on the same guy is always fun to see. Which is why alot of modern Megs being edits of the evergreen design is kind of disappointing (thank you Earthspark and BBM Concept)

Earthspark Megatron makes me think a V22 Osprey could make an awesome megatron model. G1 right arm cannon. A menacing cape of rotor blades from one engine, the other forming a big bulky sword in his left hand Transformed, a V22 with a massive underslung cannon, maybe even minicons strapped under the wings like rocket pods as extra weapons. One ending up being shoulder or back mounted, the other left forearm.

Beast wars, Megatron. Transformers, Terrorize! My favorite is the TransMetal Megatron, which rocks the metallic purple. His beast mode as a t-rex can fly, and the robot mode has the tail energy canon. The final season has him as a red dragon after merging sparks with his ancestor self. It's okay for what it was in the early 2000s.

Some background info about some of the stuff you seemed curious about: 7:45 The cancelled bomber Megatron was a redeco of G2 Dreadwing. The mold was later used for the character BB from Beast Wars II. The show was never brought over here, though there is a subbed version of it you can find online. I wouldn't recommend it. 😅 25:50 Sharkticon Megatron is from a novel called Transformers: Retribution. Absorbing the "Decepticon Matrix", which is a Quintesson ploy, he gains a power up and Sharkticon features. It's a pretty decent read. Other thoughts: 19:30 Real shame we never got this. I'm a huge Beast Machines fan, and any nods to it in later media is a blessing. 34:00 Oooh, horrendous. Gotta keep an eye out for one of these. It's great to see Earthspark getting some love, even in just this small context. I dunno if it's just cuz this is the first time I've been caught up with a TF show while it was airing, but it looks like it gets a lot of flak, not all of it deserved. I'm looking forward to season 2.

Someone’s already probably explained Meg’s human form in his LL/MTMTE appearance, but basically a giant earth started tagging behind the Lost Light, Making everyone realize that Swerve was missing and a whole team of bots went to the earth (which is a holoform) to find Swerve. His cane is a really interesting design choice, maybe a stand-in for his canon?

I like how Megatron tends to get some more major changes to his look compared to Optimus who stays mostly the same. Also the first live action movie and TFP not giving him an Earth alternate mode because he’s too proud of being Cybertronian and hates humanity was a great addition to his character.

2001 Megatron is actually known in Japan as gigatron a different character but in USA they changed to Megatron for marketing sells
