you should make it like the extra 400 and 500 with retractable gear

Retractable landing gear uses up valuable interior space while adding un-needed complication for this airplane. We are already cruising at 230 knots because we have aerodynamic fairings on the landing gear. Would you give up a few knots of airspeed to remove the complications of retractable gear during flight and maintenance? Just like what Ron said in the video, keep it simple, so it's easier to build and maintain.

Yes, this fuselage was at Oshkosh in 2023, and it flew up for 2024. The piston version flew up for 23 and 24.

I'm confused. It looks kind of like a modified Cessna? I can't find an answer in the video or copy. This randomly popped up in my feed. I do know a bit about airplanes, though...I've just never heard of this mod. It is a mod, right? Oh yes...you talked about "adding" things, so that means it is. What is the base airplane?

This is a kit build aircraft known as the Comp Air 6.2. Some people also refer to kit build planes as "homebuilt aircraft". They are built and flown under the the FAA experimental aircraft classification.

If you build one, you can add a Deicing system. The beauty of experimental is that you can configure the aircraft for your intended purposes.

@@compairaviation No worries..all good. Just a reference to the "Tango-Uniform" letter choice which has long been slang for something beyond repair. It really is a beautiful airplane that is reminiscent of a mini Caravan or Kodiak. Would like to see this in person...perhaps Sun n Fun?

pricey for sure. crowded field for that type of aircraft, but good effort.

Checkout that information their website. With that said, the basic kit is $250k and then the turbine option is $235k more, then there's avionics which can be $110k if you go dual Garmin G3X. They also have build assist and other cheaper engine options. It looks very customizable and also reasonable. One of the few low cost turbines well under 1 Mill. Range 920nm, or piston 840nm.
