What's up with the marlin spike/accessory carabiner on the right side of your bridge/forward D? What do you use that for/what's the purpose? Just curious!

Wyatt Spruck that is just for adjusting the bridge length on the cheap. I now have a roll n lock which is far superior.

ArboriCole so you just tie the marlin spike and put the biner in it so its easier to untie? When you're done ascending you just take the biner out and undo the knot?

Exactly. Not very streamline or efficient, but gets the job done.

Hi, I'm new to your channel, I'm interested in buy this device but I have a question for you... is this device finicky with ropes like the rope runner or the akimbo? or can handle almost any type and size ropes, the reason for my question is that one of the reasons that I don't like about the akimbo and the RR, they are so strict with ropes and for me... I work in (South America) where we don't have the luxury of buying special ropes for these mechanical devices, I'm hoping I can buy something that's more bomb proof and it can handle many rope types and sizes. thank you - Gene

Tree Time - all mechanicals have to be set to the type of rope used. The diameter makes a huge difference in the performance. Gordon, the guy who makes the Bulldog Bone, now makes them adjustable to allow the user to configure the device to the rope in use. I would think the Akimbo would be similarly configured. The Bulldog Bone that I have in this video has 3 different bollards that the user can install depending on what diameter rope you pair it with. As far as I know there is no device that can use any type of rope without having to make some sort of adjustments to the way it handles friction. The Rope Runner also can be adjusted to fit the rope being used. With all mechanicals, once you find the rope that works well you can keep it set to that rope and not have to make adjustments as long as you are using that rope. Have you tried the Akimbo or the Rope Runner? Do they not work with the ropes you have access to? The great thing about the Bulldog Bone and it’s creator Gordon is that he could probably tweak the device to work for any circumstance. He is actively engaged in the whole process of making the device right for you. I would send him a message and tell him your situation to see whether he thinks it would work for you. Or if he could make it work for you. I think you would love the Bulldog Bone and I hope it works out for you. Contact Gordon: gordonandkathy@AOL.com
