American motorsports are crazy. Mostly they just go round in circles, but when they do decide they actually want to turn right as well as left for a change, they run the track straight back over itself!

Americans forget what real racing is, until MotoGP & Formula 1 visit briefly. After the real stuff leaves, this is their best effort at remembering how it was done.

Not a big Nascar fan myself, but I've heard many F1 and GT drivers hopping behind the wheel of a Nascar and running a few laps being left speechless by the experience. It doesn't have the technical turns and brake points etc... But it is an extremely difficult Motorsport. Stop acting like driving 200 mph for 4 hours, inches from 30 other people isn't difficult. It's just not your flavor. No need to bash it like some elitist prick.
@05gtdriver5 жыл бұрын
What most European snobs seem to forget is that everything that has entertainment value in the United States must appeal to the masses, not just the rich(as in Europe), so consequently, the racing(among other sports activities) is in front of the viewer, hence the circle style of racing so prevalent here. If you can't see it, why should you spend your hard earned cash on it? Road course and F1 circuit racing is a better indicator of true automobile racing, I agree, but to see a race car pass by you once every 1 to 8 minutes doesn't keep the people interested as much.

Man, I love local short track racing. When I was still with my ex, her dad and I would go to Bronson Speedway outside of Gainesville, FL and set up the chairs on the top of the stands. Bombers (beat up racers with four and eight cylinder classes), modifieds, figure eights, SCHOOL BUS figure eights, even Outlaw Sprint cars on occasion. Honestly, that was better racing and a better show than both Daytona 500's I saw put together (1992 & 2010). Those were some good times.

Believe it or not they actually do consider this in traffic engineering. Signage and signalling can only go so far so in some places where the speed limit isn't excessive, they will just remove lane markings and that can have a huge impact on reducing accidents as people are forced to be more aware of the road and their surroundings because they aren't relying on a false sense of security from traffic control devices. Where I grew up it was standard policy to not post stop signs at an intersection in slow neighborhoods because they were discovered to rarely be needed and if there was a need to stop, state law had already had rules on how to proceed through them.

Haweater stop signs could be give way signs but traffic lights are important in a lot of situations. Outlawing them is stupid. How would highway on ramps work without traffic lights? Even the smoothest diverging double diamond doesn’t work without traffic lights
