Air mattress leaks in extreme cold weather (ECW) can be caused by ice crystals which form near the in/out valve from condensation in your breath. Warm moist air from your lungs causes moisture build up at the neck (and everywhere over time) and then freezes. Ice crystals like millions of tiny razors saw around in there as you move in your sleep - especially during rapid drops. To protect your new and relatively still dry pad try using an intermediary valve or pump so damp air stays out of it during the next few months. (You have made the first trail vid log worth watching in years, dude. Seriously. Pilgrim - you slept under my painting at Chet's in NH. I'd say good luck, but you already have it! So, have fun.)

Maybe there’s a trick to using the bag to blow the pad up, but I can’t figure it out. I sent the new bag home with my old pad when I got it. I initially started using the bag when I got the air mattress and it took more than twice as long to blow up with my mouth so I’m considering a battery blow up thingy.

Finally gets an experienced lady to teach him the proper way of doing things. You were way too far South! It's about 5 degrees colder up there than in towns. Some ratio of elevation and temperature. No telling how the air mattress got like that. Everything fine except for the early stages of nuclear war! Not to worry or read the news.
