The Ezio collection was just a 1080p release was it not? The PC version already ran at such resolutions and higher framerate. Localisation isn't really relevant to everybody. Not sure what features though.

And again, don't care about the languages. Don't believe there was any change from the PC versions.

Game dependent. Tears of the Kingdom isn't at 30 yet and some games like Mario Rabbits don't really play at all I believe. But yeah, 90% of the library plays without too much issue I'm sure. Which is nice given Switch games are like £50 for Luigi's mansion 3

I’m currently playing Batman: Arkham City on the Steam Deck, and it’s a night and day difference in terms of performance. I was playing the Switch port a few days ago, and I was struggling to hit a stable 30 FPS during some combat encounters. Getting a mostly stable 60 FPS on the Deck. I’ve never played the Batman games at 60 FPS before, but now, I don’t wanna go back to 30. The combat is so much more fluid and smooth in comparison to any version I’ve played before. It was awesome to see some of the other comparisons from this video. The Deck is a truly incredible device.

The game still drops in frames like crazy. TBH, I never expected Arkham Knight to run great on Switch. Especially as the developers who ported it had never worked on a games on that scale before. So, I give them respect for getting it playable at all, and I did finish the main story on Switch. But, it definitely ain’t great. And that’s why I talked about Arkham City in my original comment. You could argue that local multiplayer is better for some games on Steam Deck, because you can literally use any controllers you want. I like it when brand new consoles at least let you use their previous system's controllers. I used to try buying 3 extra controllers for every console I owned, but with them launching at $70 a piece these days, you better just hope your friends can bring one over, or use the stupid Joycons or something. (Having 4 Wavebirds felt so awesome back then though. It was the best wireless controller I had ever seen, and never before was playing 4 player games so convenient... So many nights of games like Mario Party and Double Dash... I really miss the GameCube and wish Nintendo's next "Pro" controller would be modeled after the GameCube controller)

For the games you listed, this is what I have: For Switch: Hotwheels Unleashed Syberia 1&2 - control/visuals Stardew Valley - local multiplayer Assassin’s Creed II - visuals WarGroove - physical release Rocket League - custom cars; local co-op; physical Nickelodeon All Star Brawling Octodad Portal 1/2 - local multiplayer only otherwise Steamdeck It takes Two - local multiplayer Same: Among us Turnip Boy Commits Tax Fraud Forger (minus mods on Switch) Generally my rule of thumb is Nintendo exclusives on Nintendo consoles or games where a physical version is preferred and everything else on Steamdeck or GOG. Rocket League is an interesting compromise because it does look better on the Deck but the exclusive vehicles make the Switch unique. Physical North America versions of that cart aren't cheap either anymore.

Especially in a 3v3 match it becomes really choppy. I did the ranked placements and got to Plat/Diamond on the switch while I'm GC on the steam deck... The input lag on the switch is very high for this game to the point where you start questioning your skills, it's really bad.

The best feature on the Steam Deck is that your steam games works on it and you don't need to buy again. Of course a person can have no PC games and no steam account, but my account was created 13 years ago: Have been 3 generations of consoles and I'm still using the same account with all my games. Great job. Thanks. I am fortunate to have a Switch OLED and a Steam Deck and although automatically games just play better on the Steam Deck sometimes when I look at a game that is available on both I also keep in mind battery life and if it is a game I am actually going to play in portable mode away from a power outlet I lean towards the Switch. Even with its downgraded graphics and most likely because of those downgraded graphics I know I will be able to play the game longer on a single charge on the Switch. The fact we are at this point in gaming and can even play these games on the go is not lost on me. BTW I highly recommend playing the Sega Genesis Collection on the Steam Deck because the games play flawlessly it makes the Steam Deck feel like a modern day Sega Nomad.

Great job on this comparison! Despite whichever people may prefer, it’s wild the all these games are playable on a console that can sell for just $200 USD new (Switch Lite). And if you’re willing to fork up another $200 on top, then you essentially have an entry level gaming PC in the palm of your hands (Steam Deck 64GB). I do think, however, that in the handheld gaming market, battery life and power efficiency needs to be a big consideration in these comparisons. The Steam Deck may be able to push better graphics and high resolutions, but does that matter if you are always tethered to a power chord, lugging around a battery pack, or only being able play where electrical outlets are nearby? I think a lot of handheld gamers would prefer longer untethered gaming sessions over slightly higher resolutions and prettier textures (that’s what we have gaming PCs and home consoles for).

The deck is better hardware no argument. But even as a PC guy i prefer the switch for three reasons. 1. The steamdeck battery life is horrible,yes even eith paired back settings, cutback to 40 frames etc. 2. The steamdeck is too bulky for a daily carry device when i aleeady have so much with me. 3. With friends, family and my son who aren't tech people,i can hand them and share the switch and they don't really need explanation or a lesson on how to use the thing. I like the deck it's a great device,but there's a reason the Deck is extremely niche compared to the switch even though hardware wise it puts the switch to shame.

The Deck LCD model also costs twice as much as a Switch V2 where i'm at so yeah you'd expect games to look better on much more expensive PC hardware, the point is the Switch looks amazing for how much it costs by comparison, nothing really comes close to the value you get on the Switch. I love this video as you make it clear that both systems have their benefits instead of picking a clear winner (you only mentioned your preference for each game). I prefer the deck myself but alot of people miss the fact it’s not for everybody, end up buying one and then go back to the switch and saying they don’t see a use in the deck, the same can be said with the opposite where people that would prefer the deck, buy a switch and then criticize the switch for not giving them freedom over the device. The only win the Switch has for me was when one time I was playing with my steam deck while laying down and it fell off my hands, and since the steam deck is relatively heavier than the switch, it bruised my nostrils for a week. Comparing Steam with Nintendo Switch is wrong because they have a big price difference. Switch is a completely homemade console and has completely optimized software. They have a much better battery switch!

Ergonomics for me are paramount, and really those differences are nothing to me and I don´t play fps games, mostly indies so even more reason to own a switch. It is obvious these high demanding games will run better on the Steam Deck, it is a much newer and expensive machine, and most of these games are of a particular taste too, I would never play the most demanding in that list in a Switch, depending on your gaming taste you´ll want one over the other. I play stuff like Axiom Verge, Celeste, The Messenger, Hotline Miami, Super Meat Boy, Hades, Hollow Knight, Ori, Guacameele, Blasphemous, Dead Cells, and of course Mario and Zelda and other exclusives, so in my case the Steam Deck would be just something too big for my hands, not as comfortable as the Switch (which is just in the proper size limit for me, I even like more the smaller version!)

It's really just "Switch vs PC optimization quality". Of course most games will be better on the Steam Deck in erry possible way. But there is seemingly no end to poorly optimized PC games Games are cheaper on PC. Multiplayer is free on PC. Plus, Steam Deck OLED has higher refresh rate and frame rate caps that can add a LOT more battery/playtime than the NS OLED could ever dream of I had to buy NieR on the Switch bcuz the PC port was so damb bad. It looked and ran so much better on the NS than on my Laptop which is miles above my Switch in erry category. But I hear they actually finally fixed the game after all these years
