IKR how mad is it? I still can't believe it's grown this much! I was happy when I got to 100 😅 Thank you so much for this and for the support. Completely made my day. One of the things that has really made this worth doing is how wonderful most of the people on here have been (including to each other). You're welcome, and I hope you get the grades you want. What you doing at uni?

Your videos are incredible! I feel so privileged to be able to benefit from them. I think especially as we grow older we become more grateful and aware of the hard work teachers do! Loving the content and wishing you all the blessings!

Thank you soooo much for this wonderful, kind message. Very much appreciated. I feel privileged to be in a position where I am helping so many students, and I've been taken aback by how positive everyone has been. As a teacher, it's so rewarding seeing students getting to the age where they have those mature insights... what is sometimes hard though is how every year they move on just as they get to this point and we go back to the start with the next group! Anyway, thanks again and all the best for the rest of the exam period! -G

With the cognitive and biological approach comparison, could you talk about the idea of cognitive neuroscience bridging the gap between them. Maybe as a bit of your reductionism paragraph saying they can be combined to form a higher level of explanation together. I dont know if that would be relevant to a comparison or not
@GalbraithDoesPsych

I think I'd do exactly what you suggest Carl! I wouldn't make a big deal of it, as I wouldn't say it's 'comparison' but a good link to make in that paragraph! -G

@@GalbraithDoesPsych It was a good paper overall, I can tell the grade boundaries will be very high. The questions were nice but there were some that cause mix ups. Lots of silly mistakes like explaining the process of a systematic sample when the question asked for stratified (4marks) 🫣

No point worrying about the boundaries - just focus on doing the best that you can do 👍 Glad it was good overall. I'm sure you smashed it 💪 Keep going! -G

Could another similarity be that both the biological approach and psychodynamic approach are deterministic? or is that too vague? Also, could another similarity between the behaviourist and humanistic approach be that they have both contributed to real-world practice of therapy?
@GalbraithDoesPsych
@GalbraithDoesPsych 8 ай бұрын
Those are great points! With the deterministic one you could then elaborate to say they are different types of determinism but both exclude free will. -G

thanks a lot for this sir !! btw would they ever ask to only contrast the approaches for a 16 marker so that any similarities can't be mentioned?

You goat im just confused on comparison essays bro.. If it says outline biological, THEN compare with cognitive do you mention any evaluation or do you outline bio then go straight into yapping about bio vs machine reductionist/ Drugs vs CBT etc?
@GalbraithDoesPsych
@GalbraithDoesPsych 8 ай бұрын
Exactly what you said. Drop some AO1 and then start yapping comparison. (If the command word is compare then that is the AO3, not evaluation). Bro. -G

Hi thank you so much for the video. For an 8 marks question that say discuss can you do one elaborated evaluation or do you need 2? And in paper 1 I wrote a name wrong in an 8 marker but used the right evaluation would that reduce my mark due to inaccuracy? Also there was a questoon on explanations of obediemve 6 marks with application I only outline these 3 things and then linked it to the stem would you say that was enough for a six marks question legitimacy of authority, agentic state, autonomous state ?
@GalbraithDoesPsych
@GalbraithDoesPsych 8 ай бұрын
You're welcome 🙂 Depends how big it is. You might get away with one if it's extra developed and has a counterargument. I'd probably do two. I doubt getting one name wrong would make much difference to your overall mark. Haven't seen the question or mark scheme, but for a six marker i reckon three concepts explained and applied is probably alright! -G

for an 8 marker that's just discuss/compare and no outline, what does the ao1 consist of?
@GalbraithDoesPsych
@GalbraithDoesPsych 8 ай бұрын
Still knowledge of the approach and its features/assumptions. It's just that particularly for the compare one that will be embedded within the similarities and differences. -G

so for comparison questions/essays do i not need ao3 paragraphs for the approaches?
@GalbraithDoesPsych
@GalbraithDoesPsych 8 ай бұрын
Nope, if the command word is compare there's no evaluation in the traditional sense. Comparison is the AO3. -G

@@GalbraithDoesPsychwhat about the last 16 markers in the video? Because it did said “discuss” so does that mean I need to include both AO1 and AO3 and comparison with another approach? Or just the AO1 and the comparison? Thank you!
@GalbraithDoesPsych
@GalbraithDoesPsych 8 ай бұрын
Ah I'm with you. Well I don't think there's ever been one worded exactly like that in a past paper, but I would focus on KN and EVAL like a normal discuss essay but in some of the EVAL throw in a bit of comparison e.g. developing AO3 by saying 'this is superior to X approach because...' Comparison can count as evaluation anyway if you do it like that. Anyway, they don't actually seem to use the command words 'evaluate/discuss' with 'compare' in the same question. -G

Thank u sir, I wanted to ask something. In paper 1 there was a question comparing episodic and semantic memories and I dont know why I didn't keep it simple but I mentioned one difference being that episodic memories time-stamped and autobiographical whilst semantic is knowledge of facts and the world, i.e. capital cities. For the other difference I said that brain scanning evidence has found differences in the location of episodic and semantic memories and gave examples of the brain structures. Is this fine?
@ogob6623
@ogob6623 8 ай бұрын
I did the same and mentioned that both are able to be consciously recalled except for brain scanning evidence. I think your answer is good though.

For the 16 marker, would you have to specifically refer to the idea that humanistic approach has little to offer psychology in A01 + A03 or would you just write a normal essay on humanistic + one other approach without mentioning whether is has little/much to offer psychology?
@GalbraithDoesPsych
@GalbraithDoesPsych 8 ай бұрын
Well that 'quote' is actually used in an old essay question, and there were no application marks for it. So, probably not, but I would personally just use that wording in the final sentence of some of my evaluation paragraphs. -G
