The domestic cattle and zebu are not full species, they are subspecies, their trinomial scientific names are Bos primigenius taurus and Bos namadicus indicus respectively, the Domestic Cattle (Bos primigenius taurus) is the only extant subspecies of Palearctic Aurochs (Bos primigenius), whilst the Zebu (Bos namadicus indicus) is the only extant subspecies of Paleotropical Aurochs (Bos namadicus).
