I just bought the EEW 6. I really like it, it's much heftier than the nano which I've also worked with. It also has a much bigger motor. For me Espinner was the only option, treaddling just triggers my chronic pain too much.

Totally makes sense! So glad e-spinners are an option. Great to hear about the EEW 6. They are so affordable as far as these wheels go! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Kim! I loved recently spinning the East Frisian fibre I had from your October 2012 club. I decided to practice my woolen draw with it and it was a joy! It certainly seems to ask to be spun that way, as I spun that batch before I had heard you mentioning about the long draw & that breed a few weeks ago. Now I’m a fan of that roving 😍 I was playing with thick & think also in that spin & I’ve a lovely soft & fun yarn that I’m going to knit a snuggly hat with. I spin with an Ashford e-spinner 3 & I love it. I no longer have a wheel, due to physical issues, but I also have an Electric Eel 6 waiting for me to collect in Virginia. Sandra King of Irish Fibre Crafters let me try the one she uses in her spinning workshops, and it seems a good & pretty affordable entry for newbies, more so than the Nano. Sandra is finding folks often have success with the EE 6 type- and especially for those who are struggling loads with the normal wheels, having them do some time with the electric can bring them that positive boost and they can then more happily try again with the regular wheels. Regular wheels are, IMO, more beautiful than e spinners, and I do miss having that charm, but I don’t miss how difficult it was to find room for it in our wee cottage 😂 Tom tripped over mine in the dark one night and that was a mini disaster- maybe I should have had a glow in the dark warning sticker on it 😅

Right?! She never gets in a box. I did decide it was time to up her to one more serving from her auto feeder a day. Still a diet but a little slower now!

I have 2 Daedalus and I absolutely love them. They are my ride(spin) or die e spinner. The Starling your using is no longer available because it’s been updated to the Starling V3 which can be flat packed and has a computerized foot controller, not to mention tons of other upgrades. I have owned the EEW6 and tried the Ashford.

Thanks for all the info. I did know it's an older model, but still great! Maybe I'll break down and get one soon enough?! Definitely will be adding everyone's comments and thoughts into the next episode. So interesting!

Thank you so much for your review on the espinners. I completely agree with the challenges that came up. I will need to practice more on my espinnner. But I felt that for the thread I wanted to create, I went back to my drop spindle with stone whorl. With the stone whorl, I am able to strength test it as I'm making my thread. I can make fine thread on my espinner, but I agree that the uptake felt really slow, and I just got a bunch of overspun pig tails in my bobbin. I'm a beginner spinner, so when a problem happens, I had to frequently have to stop, fix, unwind, and figure out what happened until when the next issue would pop up. I'm learning a new tool, and I understand that. So it'll come with time. I'll just have to save for my dream spinning wheel, and spindle spin in the meantime.

Hi -- I am new to your podcast. I can understand what you are talking about in regards to the connection between treading on a spinning wheel and how it feels without a treadle on a e-spinner. I am a relatively new owner of a Daedalus that I am glad to have and use but there is a connection to my spinning and treading that I miss when using the e-spinner. Both are nice tools to have. I realize that my feeling for the yarn I am spinning with the wool is a little lost on a e-spinner. Thanks for your podcast!

Yes! Thank you for your thoughts and glad you found me. I do enjoy the e-spinners for many reasons but definitely not sold enough to completely switch. I do love those big bobbins though!!!

Love this podcast! Your sweaters are beautiful! Was that a handspun sweater you made while you were cleaning the carder? I would've been so nervous to get it caught on the tines. Cool to watch though. I have a asford espinner 3 and I love it. I do want a deadelus though.

Hi Kim, thanks for talking about the E spinners. I was wondering about the stability of the Nano when moving the yarn guard (not sure the real name). I saw a friend spinning on a nano spinner and it was moving all around the table. Also does the Starling have a woolee winder? I love mine on my Hansen. I also bungee cord my Hansen to my Zucca bag. My Hansen took a header off the Zucca and I had to send it to Hansen for repairs. By the way Kevin, at Hansen was the best customer service. Thanks for your video. Love the mint chip yarn. I bought a cormo fleece and had it processed at a local mill. Long story short the fleece came back to me full of neps! The mill ruined the fleece. Is there anything that can be done to safe the fleece?
