The ultra-flex nib is, hands down, the best flex pen made today for drawing. Besides allowing a wide range from thin to thicker lines, my favorite thing about the FPR ultra-flex is that it does NOT have a scratchy point that causes other flex nibs (including some quite expensive ones) to grab or dig into the paper and cause stuttering or a splatter. It's a great balance of flex and smoothness.

I have all 3 nibs, flex and ultra flex and the 14kt gold, and am a huge fan of your nibs. My favorite is of course a #6 with an ebonite feed, it is amazing.

Thank you for the demonstration. I hope to pick up one of the #6 gold flex nibs soon and glad I watched this. I have some of your UltraFlex nibs and they are very nice, but I do kind of struggle with your regular steel flex nibs, so this video is definitely tempting me to get a #6 gold flex nib for my Leonardo Officina pen.

awesome. I will get a darjeeling with flex nib next month, if possible. I just got into fountain pens this month and it makes writing poetry so fast! I had no idea words could go down as fast as you think them, other than in typing, which itself is a tad slower than I write! I am so excited, Sir!

Should we worry about the fact that the flex nibs don't have a breather hole, which help in relieving some stress at the end of the slit avoiding a premature crack in the nib?

Hi Kevin, I own three FPR flex steel nibs, the 6” ultraflex nib, the 5.5” ultraflex nib, and the 5.5” standard flex nib. I enjoy using all of them. I expected to enjoy using the ultraflex, but I did not have any idea how much use I would get out of the standard 5.5” flex nib. It is particularly helpful for imparting flex to very small, even tiny, handwriting. Along the same line, I own one 6” 1.1 mm stub nib and one 5.5” 1.1 mm stub nib. The smaller nib is particularly useful when I want to use very small handwriting to create a stub line.

Are you able to get a thinner line with the steel than with the gold?
@FountainPenRevolution3 жыл бұрын
Our steel ultra flex nibs are extra fine tipped. So, they write a little thinner than than the gold, which are fine tipped.

How much is your 14k ultraflex nibs? I don't think those are available in the Philippines yet. I am super enjoying my FPR pen and am thinking of getting a Himalaya.
@kevinthiemann37843 жыл бұрын
The nib itself is $135. It can be tricky to install them on a Himalaya yourself though since the nib/feed on that pen is friction fit.

I've got a very noob question. How do I know what size nib before I buy the pen. I know nothing about fountain pens, but I'm thinking of getting a twisbi diamond and replacing the std nib with your gold flex nib.

Generally nibs are not swappable between manufacturers. However our #5.5 size nibs will fit TWSBI 580 models.

What's the nominal nib size on the flex nibs? Like are they an EF, F, etc? Thanks!

All of our flex nibs are fine tipped. But we are working on some EF for the ultra flex version.

I’m trying to find a #6 gold nib that feels close to the Pilot soft nibs, SF SFM etc. Is the 14k flex around the same feel, but with more flex available? I just want a soft bouncy nib for everyday writing but with the option for a bit of fun. Also does the 5.5 work in a TWSBI? Thanks!
@FountainPenRevolution2 жыл бұрын
Our 14k nibs might be a little softer then Pilot, but they can be used for normal writing. Our 5.5 nibs fit the TWSBI 580 but not other models.

Stupid question. When I started out I started with dip pens. I recently found flex nibs and though I am having a bit of a learning curve I really love them. In dip pens the bibs don’t seem to have a little ball at the tip of the bib where the flex nibs and basically all fountain pen nibs do. What is the reasoning behind that?
@christopherstarr76075 жыл бұрын
What was the green ink in the first standard flex? I'm looking for a green color like that ink. thanks

My #6 Steel Ultra Flexwith ebonite feed on a Jaipur V2 is so wet that the upstroke, with no pressure, is super wide, not sure why? However my steel medium nib with plastic feed I’d one of my favorite nibs.

So i was wondering is it easier to write and spread the tip with a flex, or ultra flex? Which one transitions easier and is better for beginers?
@FountainPenRevolution Жыл бұрын
The ultra flex version is much easier to flex.

Does anyone know if the #6 gold flex will fit into a pen that uses #6 Jowo nibs, like an Opus 88 Omar?
@Kumofan3 жыл бұрын
It should, but you might want to ask fpr support just to make sure
@mkompan3 жыл бұрын
@@Kumofan I emailed Kevin at FPR a few days ago to ask. He replied that his gold nibs don't fit into Jowo units. I knew that about his steel nibs, but had heard that the geometry of the gold nibs was slightly different.

Will this new nib work on the GIANT pen (Guider Super Zimbo ED Fountain Pen with ultra flex #6 nib)I purchased from you in June 2019? It was a clear demonstrator eyedropper and it is HUGE! Sadly it NEVER worked right from the start and just bleeds all over everything! I hate it. Wasted over 80 bucks on that stupid thing. I do love the girth and the look of it but it's useless as a writing/drawing implement. It came with added ultra flex #6 nib. Is it the same nib as this "new" one?

I've been using the Ultra Flex Steel nib for a few months after looking for something to replace a dip pen when practicing Copperplate, but with less mess and fuss, and the FPR UF performs great! It's been amazing and so much fun to use. I'm considering the #5.5 14k UF nib to use in a TWSBI 580 if anyone has any recommendations about how it compares and what feed to get?
@tiffanybluetarot Жыл бұрын
Hi there, Andrew! Did you end up doing the nib swap in your 580? How did it go? I have a 5.5 Ultra Flex nib in one of my TWSBI Eco’s and it’s working great. No fuss, no tinkering, no nothing. It just works. Hoping you had a similar experience!
@andycmacp Жыл бұрын
@@tiffanybluetarot I did! The change was easy and it fit really well. The nib is a delight, but every so often I get a gig droplet of ink gathering under the nib, which gets transferred to the paper as soon as I start writing, I need to figure out what is causing this!
