I'm installing a holley Hi Ram tall version on my 1993 chevy c1500 355 SB. I did a under hood mockup today and there is around a 1" to spare on the hood clearance. The only clearance problem is the factory AC and belt tensioner on the OBS. But that's ok cuzz I been looking for good reason to install a Holley Mid-Mount Accessory drive. Also Holley cast a nice pad over the rear water jacket, so I'm piping some coolant out of the back of the heads to the water neck. I think Holley is going have sell a lot of Hi Ram for SBC's before they start making different hats. With intake being dry and running Brodix IK 200 64cc 2.02, I'm thinking it should make good street power and have good driveability.

Yup Tunnel rams work great for both strip & street. I suspect the only intake that would make even more torque would be the old Smokey Yunik SY-1.

If you’ve got the room a tunnel ram is often great and gives about the best of everything. Some of the factory fuel injection intakes are like mini tunnel rams.

I own a 1971 Camaro SS 396 4-speed. 1970-81 Camaros and Firebirds have the lowest hood Clearence of any of the GM cars from that era. there is even less clearance than 68-82 corvette. even the Edelbrock low rise Torker II -O will not clear the stock hood on big block in a 70-81 Camaro. I know the OG Performer and Performer RPM fit on a small block in a 70-81 Camaro, but you have to run a drop base low profile air filter on them. so that is impressive if it will clear a stock hood on a second gen Camaro.

Hey Eric, g ,day To u, glad u will be doing a dyno shoot on small block strength test , the 350 motor build sheet your doing if you look back a ways , is what a typical hot sbc street /strip motor u would build back in the day exactly !! I'm really ecstatic, excited to watch that video to see what the block can handle hp wise. I don't really usually enjoy watching people waste motors, but I never knew the strength of a production s/block . I was always told 520hp is iffy! Thanks 4 your time , regards Johnny australia...

Longer runners are typically designed for more low down torque and power, there is so much documentation on it, it’s crazy people think it’s rubbish. I guess it’s because of the whole boosted world where it doesn’t matter so much. Header length also can be tuned for where you want the power and torque to be, Or if you want the best of both worlds, short headers and long intake runners.
@Adrian-hr3hf14 сағат бұрын
Yes. Proof of your statement is in the old Mopars with the cross ram intakes, I think they were called. Massive torque way down low.

I wonder if Holley developed the new high ram, as a result of me calling them about 6-8 months ago. I was wanting to put a tunnel ram on my BBC, and use the LS High Ram top. I also wanted to be able to install a Tick Performance air/water intercooler between the High Ram & the Tunnel Ram. The tech guy I talked to thought it was a great idea, but they didn't have any info on if it would work. I guess they took a look & this is what they've developed. Really cool.
@atheplummer23 сағат бұрын
I really want to do a ZZ632 with the above setup in a 76 chevy pickup. The whole point to the Tick performance is, I want to run a air conditioner compressor on the engine, with a refrigerated water box for the intercooler. I'm willing to bet that setup would get the water soo cold, you'd have to run antifreeze in it. Would work great for boosted applications.

The Holley bbc high ram has been around for the COPO 572 for a couple years now, now that the 572 COPO is being phased out Holley is now contractual allowed to release them under the Holley name.

8 months? Probably was already in the works. But a ram without wet flow intricacies at the runner entries, and it solves some robbing issues that two plane cranks bring... could be a ton of fun. Looking forward to seeing dyno runs.

@@funfun8095 oh so you do look at Internet stuff ok, you know LS has more issues than just rods like cracks heads which both SBC and Ls have and blown head gasket on daily drivers on both how do I know that I was in a machine shop that surfaced heads, and I run circle track and there is LS that run circle track and you know the first thing they is at least change the pistons to forged pistons doesn't sound like stock bottom end to me and then higher build would change the rods to they will keep the crank I will give you that. So also have you seen builds from drag racers with turbo actually have a total aftermarket LS engine and nothing stock when they run really high boost and hp yeah. Just saying at least a lot of what I am saying not all of it just some I have been around those guys in person and not just internet search. Mainly the circle track stuff between 450hp to maybe 700hp
