They have the fundamental set including Calvin's entire commentary! Really cool for us reformed guys

Bought the reformed starter version after watching this... really want to speed up tracing people, maps, words, and original language meanings, this may have created a monster, I also think it will be helpful during family worship to trace down, hymn history, people and very interesting stuff!

Hey PT…I’ve been using the free version of L9 and loving it. I made a quick video of the differences between L9 and Accordance. I wonder if you’ve looked at L9 and now L10 specifically the mobile app. Is it worth what looks like a $250 intro fee for what you’d get on L10? I already own a few “study bibles”. Thanks for your input.

Great question. The 'flagship' upgrade is the incorporation of the physical library for searching. Many people found the upgrade to be worth it from just that perspective. If you have a large print library that you would love to be able to search INSIDE of Logos, that is a real game changer. As far as mobile goes, there is one key feature that I have found very helpful, and that is the digital read aloud function. Being able to turn all of your Logos books into audio books (albeit a bit robotic) is pretty strong. If neither of those features appeal to you, it might be a pass.
@ClaimingChristianity Жыл бұрын
@@PastorTanner Awesome! Thanks. I do have quite a bit of print resources so that feature intrigues me. The $250 bucks is a little hard as I’m not a full timer. But it may be worth it for the print feature. I buy “most” of my book in kindle/audible to be honest cause they’re cheap and I can search my highlights and notes pretty easy. Thanks for the comments! I appreciate it!

I just got the free version and buy books when I need them, most of the time when they are on sale. Logos can be on the pricey side if you go all in on it. I just recommend just buy what you need.

This is a great approach, dearien. My video on Logos for Cheap recommends a similar strategy. If you are patient you can build an excellent library over time.

One thing I forgot to ask about: Since the NASB is not Public Domain, does it need to be purchased? I'm the poster boy for cheap.
@PastorTanner Жыл бұрын
Almost every major translation is a separate purchase. Most are in base packages of some kind if you want a group discount. Though it is a higher overall price.

What about the tools and features. I have basic, and a friend has gold and it seems like we have all the same tools on iOS version with the exception of like… draw on screen and sermon prep.
@PastorTanner Жыл бұрын
Yes, the tools and features that are made available at each level are not always 100% clear. Furthermore, a feature may open up that you do not use or have no interest in using. If you aren't looking for a specific feature, I would go for a package based on library and usability. If you are looking for a specific feature, it can be very helpful to look in the feature sets to see the lowest possible level that feature is offered at.

What if I want to add other BIBLES such as the NASB and NKJV ? Can I also download them onto a Windows desktop and Windows laptop at the same time? Also, what if I also wanted to NOT have all those pictures on the opening page, but just want to list my entries by name only...#1,#2, #3, etc.?
@PastorTanner Жыл бұрын
Yes to both, Norman. They have almost all of the major translations and you can have them downloaded to as many machines as you like as far as I am aware. You can turn off the landing page so that you don't see that stuff - mine is defaulted to off. :)

Thanks for the review! For KJV-prefered studying (dispensationally), I tend to agree with the extras in Fundamentals but, if you're on a tight budget, go for Basic with Thomas Newberry's TR-based interlinear (it works out cheaper).
@casey1167 Жыл бұрын
If you are KJV why in the world would you use a software package developed in conjunction with Verbum Software?
@CliveChamberlain946 Жыл бұрын
@@casey1167 I don't know about Verbum Software. What I mentioned is listed on Logos as "The Interlinear Literal Translation of the Greek (Newberry Interlinear)" at $30. I also added the Young's Literal Translation (YLT) at $10 so I can follow along with Dr. Randy White's ATT broadcasts in 3 column format. On Faithlife he freely shares 20 years of his Logos Bible notes along with custom TR color shading that follows the Greek he teaches. The next addition may be "The Treasury of Scripture Knowledge" at $18 it's huge, linked and affordable.
@casey1167 Жыл бұрын
@@CliveChamberlain946 My issue is LOGOS owns Verbum, although you might find LOGOS very useful, if you are KJV at all my opinion is you should stay away from software company that produces Verbum because there will be a Catholic influence.

3:50 REALLY???... BUT you're not getting recent "good" (air quotes) resources. All because it's from a "traditional" (no air quotes) perspective? That's the problem with the "modern" Church is that they reject the wisdom of those who came up in the past &, in my opinion, were far more knowledgeable of God's Word. Then he, Pastor Tanner, says it's because they are not the most "recent" in scholarship. I would tell him what he could do with his most "recent" scholars but God has transformed me & given me a new heart! Just because we have "older" manuscripts doesn't necessarily mean they are more accurate nor does it mean they better clarify God's Words. I would trust the wisdom of our recent "scholars" about as much as I would trust "The Message" over the King James Bible!!! NOTE: I have no doubt whatsoever that we are living in the end times so for all we know all those recently found "older" manuscripts were unearthed (so to speak) to confuse or distort not to clarify God's Word for Satan's purpose rather than for God's. Now more than ever we have to be VERY careful on who we read & listen to, more isn't alway better!!!

Interesting. I see it as a standard turn of phrase, much like we often don’t mean ‘how are you’? When we ask people that question. Human language is full of weird quirks when you think about it. However, if my language quirk makes you think I’m a liar, that’s fine too. Take care.

This entire program is geared towards the “reformed” guys. I love you, but I fundamentally disagree with how you frame your election theology because you gloss over or completely neglect that God’s determines election based on His foreknowledge. Foreknowledge of what? His foreknowledge of our selection. Foreknowledge bears more explanation than you’re all willing to give it. Anyway, I’m going to pass on this.
