I remember when Chip Kelly was first hired by Philly and how some ppl were very high on him. They talked about this culture and lifestyle he believed and was successful for him in college. He was attempting to inculcate it with the Eagles but it ended up being a failure. In the end, he was basically run out of town. College and professional football players, especially at the time, were not the same. College teams and NFL teams didn't operate the same way. You can find success when trying to enforce a specific lifestyle, diet, training, ect method with young college students and taking a father-like role with how you coach. All of that stuff doesn't fly in a professional setting, like the nfl. You can't control grown men like that and tell them exactly how they are going to live. You don't have the control over so much of the team like college coaches do either. Hopefully he ended up being humbled and that he was able to learn and grow from that experience. I never heard much about him after he went back to college. Maybe he'll be more successful as an OC and I guess that will decide if he ever gets another HC job in the NFL.

Yup….top nba prospects who can fill up a stat sheet in regular season losses will make $500 plus million in career salary with the potential of hundreds of millions more off the court. Someone like LaMelo Ball doesn’t have to win a thing to get unspeakably wealthy. Hell, these guys get $200 plus million guarantees at 21-22 years old with zero accomplishment expected. Zion was physically gifted enough to be a historically efficient 27/10 guy in his second year. That, plus his Duke run, earned him over $300 million in checks or guarantees by his 25th or 26th birthday…..that’s true even if the league is done with him by then. More likely he’ll make another $200 million minimum by age 30. The highest max tier is almost at $70 million AAV over five years and rising. $20-$30 million per is good role player money now. So even if injured Zion had to take a big pay cut in a third deal he’s still likely getting $40 million per. Now imagine you don’t love basketball and your size/freakish athleticism make it tough to avoid injury. Are you going to be insanely motivated to improve and maximize potential??? Of course not. NBA stars have to be internally motivated. Nobody works their ass off for extra money when just showing up gets them $500 million from 19-30. Conservatively invest 20-30% of that and watch your net worth explode throughout your 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s with no effort. We talk about what can happen to a few grand invested at 20 or 25 by the time you’re 60 with regular contributions and compounding. How about $100 million invested for 40 years lol. $100 million invested at age 25 in s&p index funds with maybe a tiny percentage in riskier stuff like crypto will almost certainly make you a billionaire in your 60’s….these guys should all end up billionaires. Literally. Just with salary, saving a reasonable percentage, and time. Add in some riskier hits in startups or crypto and multi billionaire is within reach.
