Comparing Musang King Durian, Black Thorn Durian and D2 Durian. Which is better?

Musang King (猫山王) and Black Thorn (黑刺) are popular durian varieties with premium price. We have decided to compare and taste them side by side. Adding on to the comparison is D2, a variety that we found good in the past.
We have assessed the durians on Quantitative and Qualitative aspects.
QUANTITATIVE ASPECTS
The D2 has the smallest seeds, weighted averagely 11.2g compared to Musang King 15.2g and Black Thorn 14.3g. So, D2 won in this aspect.
We were particularly interested in how much pulp each variant contains, in relation to the fruit weight. Musang King emerged as winner here with 35% of the fruit weight contributed by its pulp, excluding the seeds, followed by Black Thorn at 33%. D2 is the looser with its pulp making only 22% of its weight. This is probably a bit biased because in this case, the Musang King is a bigger fruit.
This observation provides a correlation between fruit size and pulp content, and we can use this as a guide to assess fruit size and pricing by the retailer. If the price per kilogram between bigger fruit and smaller fruit of the same variant is too large, it may be worthwhile to buy the smaller fruit, and vice versa.
QUALITATIVE ASPECTS
Each of us have our own preference. Both Musang King and Black Thorn tasted very good with very creamy texture and reasonable seed size. However, those who prefer stronger taste may find Musang King more appealing.
KC prefers the Musang King over Black Thorn due to Musang King's more intense taste, and the fact that it is cheaper than Black Thorn. Faith likes bitter taste durians regardless of any variety. In this case, the Black Thorn seem to satisfy her more because it is more balance in all aspects, with a little bitterness (alcoholic taste) and with the level of sweetness that she likes.
We have always felt D2 was good, however in this comparison, D2 lost to Musang King and Black Thorn when compared side by side.

Most welcome. KC preferred the MSK coz he likes the intense taste, however the Black Thorn would work for those who like some bitterness. Both are great varieties.

From the price they charge is double compare other place. Just imagine D2 is RM35.. i paid RM 18 the most recently

Different area charges differently and agree that Durianman is premium. Their next door competitor in SS2 is some 5% cheaper.

I think it's Impossible to ship to your country man, you can make a plan to come visit our country in future tho, that's better because of freshness. But make sure you're on the correct season.

i had very bad experience at Durianman on 16/7/22. they sold MK same price regardless what the size is. other stalls and shops sell MK according to the size, bigger size more costly, smaller size more cheaper, but not Durianman... i bought a Ochee on that day and very wonder why ochee totally not delicious and not worth it? its 100% tasteless and totally plain!!! b4 i choose it i already taste the fresh with my finger and the fresh is soft. after i ate half way then i know why. bcos the ochee i choose is not 100% ripe!! there were two fresh than still harden (~ 80% ripe) ,and other two fresh is ~ 90% ripe. the next day i try ochee at the other shop and found out its not as good as MK . MK still the best.

I just ate black thorn like a few minutes ago, I don’t find it as wow as musang king. As much as the colour look’s premium the texture doesn’t feel creamy. Musang is my pick.
