I don't want everyone to be the same, that would be boring. It is good to see different perspectives on things.

My view in “quitting” so to speak is that it’s okay to take breaks. I “quit” at age 15 and resumed at age 25. As Randy Savage once said, “if you get knocked down, take the standing 8 count and get up and fight again”. It’s okay to take that standing 8 count. Sometimes it’s needed.

I agree, even though i do enjoy Jesee´s videos and tips very much, but every martial artist has to deal with differents problems, and follows it´s own path.Like you say, my dear Karate Shrimp, some times it´s not motivation, but opportunities to deal with. Some people hasn´t money to pay a dojo, others hasn´t time, or have health issues. Every martial artist has to keep it´s own rhythm. However, Jesse´s advice has sense too: the first step to overcome your limitations, is your own motivation. Like you, when you overcome all those problems you had when you leave your dojo. That´s why i do admire you and follow your youtube videos. You have more in common with us, than Jesee. Greettings from Chile.

Great video, I grew up with very little oppurtunity for martial arts, and even less support from parents and family, but months past, then years, then decades and im still here, so dont let anything derail your passion, keep with it and let the haters fall by the roadside. After many years of training, competing and teaching, I have gained so much, and got to speak with some awesome people from around the globe a lot of which I consider great friends, such as yourself Sabrina, this community is everywhere and its one of the most welcoming and supportive you could be a part of..ironic since we like beating on each other a lot 🤣🤣

That's so awesome and encouraging! And yes, such a supportive community. Being able to pummel each other shows a deep level of trust, doesn't it. 😂 I love that part of it. Thank you for sharing and for being so supportive. 🙏

I come from a Fencing family and in my teenage years i developed into quite a good left handed sabreur (if i don't say so myself). At my peak i was ranked 4th in NSW juniors (2002 NSW Australia). I gave it up because i reached the stage my "natural talent" (ie the fact i had the correct build and had grown up surrounded by fencers) wasn't enough to progress anymore. If i wanted to keep improving i needed to put in serious effort. I was in high school at the time and couldn't be bothered putting in the work. Especially getting up early in the morning's to train. I always kick myself everytime i think about what could have been, because i ended up becoming a Pastry Chef and now early mornings are a way of life to me. Oh the irony.....😂😂😂

I have a gift of understanding kata. But not the gift of easy obstacles. So it makes it hard to share and pass on what I have uncovered. The skill of solving the martial arts is easy for me but, I need to except I won't be a fames youtuber or be on top of an organisation to pass down what I know. I won't be supported by the traditional systems that karate or be in contact with those whom could help spread influence. Karate needs evolution but I am no Elon musk with his gifts of salesmenship. What step is next, I am not to know. But alone am I on a journey at the top of a mountain no one has climbed. Iv worked out all applications for all the Kyokushin kata's currently working through goju and shotokan. At least I can keep doing what I'm best at. And wait till the world catches up or will I get left behind.
