Comparing Sansui AU-5900 vs AU-6500

Welcome to our new video where we're going to dive into the world of vintage audio, specifically exploring two iconic amplifiers from Sansui: the AU-5900 and the AU-6500. Crafted during the golden era of audio engineering, the AU-6500 came to the scene in 1972, followed by the AU-5900 in 1977.
The AU-5900 is recognized for its impressive 45 watts per channel (at 8 ohms), while the AU-6500 takes it up a notch with a power output of 32 watts per channel (also at 8 ohms). Both of these amplifiers demonstrate the exceptional quality and performance that Sansui is renowned for.

Bienvenidos a nuestro nuevo video en el que vamos a sumergirnos en el mundo del audio vintage, explorando específicamente dos amplificadores icónicos de Sansui: el AU-5900 y el AU-6500. Elaborados durante la época dorada de la ingeniería de audio, el AU-5900 irrumpió en escena en 1976, seguido por el AU-6500 en 1972.
El AU-5900 es reconocido por su impresionante potencia de 45 vatios por canal (a 8 ohmios), mientras que el AU-6500 sube la apuesta con una potencia de salida de 34 vatios por canal (también a 8 ohmios). El 6500 tiene mayor escenario, mejores voces. Se requiere mucha atención para notarlo pero si, me quedo con la firma del 6500, amé su exquisitez y claridad. Muy buen video, felicidades!

Diferencias muy sutiles, el 6500 parece un poco más amplio y quizás el 5900 un poquito más cálido, pero ya digo, las diferencias son muy sutiles. En cualquier caso gran video. Gracias

Gracias por el vídeo y la comparativa. Es muy interesante. La diferencia es muy sutil. He probado con tres auriculares y es muy muy tenue. Quizá encuentro el 6500 algo más brillante. Slds desde Madrid!

I was listened both of them, with also Sansui au 1100. With Grinding super hi fi box 850a professional and Bang and Olufsen 4500. As for me, the 5900 it more louder, shout, and with little scene, yes we have separation of instruments, but it look like when different instruments playing solo. It something artificial in 5900 music. But it really great amplifier. So for Difference we listened in the same pair of acoustics a Sansui au1100, version for Japan, is more clear, more harmonical and detail sound, not screamy in high and middle tone, but still vivid and articulate, with wide scenical sound. It like when some one finally turn nice music on. But it have no normal bass. Sad. En exellent amplifier, but low tones is not give you weight and volume. And the winner is au 6500. Finally I choose it, because it more wide scenic sound, good fat articulated bass, perfect detalisation, it look like you into middle of playing orchestra and musicians. Not mixed, but separated. Very harmonical, but without screams, shouts and out vividing. Yes is not top of line, not au 9900, but it amplifier, what I finally buy. It cost every coin. Phonocorrector is remarkable.

I am listening to both systems reproduced through two 4 cm speakers in my laptop, so I know the limitations. I think I would prefer the brighter sound of the 5900 and cut the treble / bass boost if I had a sense of fatigue. Wish I could hear all this equipment in person. The 5900 sounds more natural to me, the 6500 is "plumper" which is very nice, but exaggerated... IMHO I would love to hear these two compared to the AU-777a I grew up with. That would be revealing.

I have a 5900, and thanks to this video, I think au-6500 is more like 90's sound and people may prefer 6500. For me, 5900 is good enough for bepop jazz music. I also have a Yamaha CA-1000 ii, and I like Sansui au-5900 more.

To my ears the 6500 is more articulate and clear both sound amazing though also do not like the back Imput center on the 5900 all the wires show

Desde mi punto de vista la diferencia es muy sutil y no se oye en el video. Tiene que ver con los graves. El AU6600 tiene un poco más de graves pero es muy sutil.
