After one year on a combination of Lupron and anastrozole, I decided to switch to Tamoxifen. This video describes the changes⬆️⬇️ I noticed when switching medications (the positive, the negative and things that didn't change at all) as well as, which medication I prefer and WHY.
I've been prescribed to be on hormone therapy for 5 years, so finding the best fit that allows me to enjoy this phase of my life is important to me. I hope this helps you on your journey in some way🙏.
This is only MY experience. Everyone reacts to medications differently
SUBSCRIBE🌷 to come along as I continue to share more about my cancer journey and life moving forward as a survivor.
Thank YOU so much for being here with me! It is my honor to share my experiences with the purpose of supporting you, and creating a space where we all feel less alone💕

Chelsey, Thank you for these helpful videos. I’m kind of at the beginning of this journey and they have been very informative. Getting an appointment to begin seeing a medical and radiation oncologist. Still surprised I’m in this situation 😂! Good luck to you. And thank you!

Hi Chelsea, this is a really helpful comparison. I started with lupron and tamoxifen, then after 3 months got switched to lupron with letrazole. Thé hot flushes on tamoxifen started to decrease once my body got used to the drug but coming off tamox was dreadful… worst hip pain ever and then I felt like a normal healthy person once it was out of my system! Then came letrazole and lupron! Initially I felt so so depressed. I had a break and started with just half the tablet to slowly build up … was much better but my feet really hurt and now my whole body aches most of the time! But I sleep better with letrazole than I did tamox ( I do get hot in the night but not a night sweat). Overall I prefer letrazole with lupron .. if I didn’t have the aches it would be so much better! When you restart your meds, try not to think of it being the end of your happy self, just think of it as the pill and no more periods ❤… keep busy and keep smiling … this is hard but we can do it xxx ❤

Hi Natalie! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and side effects. It's so interesting how the medications effect everyone a little differently with common trends. And thank you for the words of encouragement🙏, I do have a different mind set this time around, but it's still challenging at times. An interesting fact is that I still get my period while on Tamoxifen🤷‍♀️. I truly wish you all the best moving forward, sending so many positive vibes your way💫💫... we totally got this💪❤!!!

Good to see you. I am on anastrozole and it makes me feel so bad and I stay hot but my Dr keeps saying this is the best option for me I did not get chemo, She said that with my health that my body would not be able to handle it. At my age I have considered to just quit it. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day 💕

I appreciate this video. My wife was placed on the Lupron plus an aroma taste inhibitor option after chemo because of her relatively younger age. The doctors never really discussed an exit strategy from getting monthly shots of Lupron in order to take the AI, other than to later say that a hysterectomy would make it so a monthly Lupron shot would no longer be needed. I was bothered that more wasn’t discussed at the beginning. She opted against a hysterectomy and For other medical reasons my wife discontinued the Lupron and AI and is now on Tamoxifen. I pray it work out. Your video is reassuring.

I was told I needed to do both lupron and tamoxifen together in order for it to work. Hoping it doesn’t have too bad side effects

Depending on how these drugs affect you, it might become a quality of life issue to continue it. Much suppression can be done through diet.

Thanks so much for sharing! I've left comments before & shared that I'm on zoladex & tamoxifen. My 1 year hormone therapy anniversary is in a couple days & I've been considering stopping zoladex. I've gotten used to the hot flashes (still don't like them) but the joint pain especially trying to sleep is the worst side effect for me. When you said that got better for you, it gave me hope. I feel like a little old woman when i get up in the morning - my lower back aches. It's terrible! Zoladex has definitely affected my libido as well. Did that get better as well? Sorry, if that's too personal of a question but I'd love to know... if you're comfortable sharing. 😊

Hey Melissa, you and I talked about collagen a while back didn't we? I TOTALLY get what you are saying about feeling so sore that it makes you feel like a little old lady. It's incredible how it really does make your body ache as if you are 90 years old (or what I imagine that feels like)! I personally haven't had any body/joint pain from the Tamoxifen. Other things got better after I made the switch as well💌

@@ChelseyTarnow Yep, that was me! I am taking collagen now which seems to be helping a little. Glad to hear the other symptoms got better too. My oncologist just gave me the ok to stop zoladex & just take tamoxifen. Exciting but at the same time scary. Funny how you can hate the way it makes you feel & then be hesitant to stop taking it. Lol!

@@melissabrown3976 I thought so! I'm glad it's helping a little... if you decide to stop taking the zoladex I hope it makes a drastic difference for you. I totally get what you are saying, these medications have such a crazy push/pull effect on decisions to take them or not... I feel like I re-evaluate daily!
