ON1 is so powerful, it's unbelievable. But it's also sometimes a little bit too complex in what you can do with masks and layers and effects and stuff. In this case I think it's the best because of the reflection.

I've been using On1 exclusively for sky replacement and did notice recently that you can mask out the overlaps, both original and reflection, where need be. This makes the program the clear winner, in my opinion. The only problem is you can't shift it left or right, but can always go back to the AI method.

I wonder if one of Luminar's upcoming "plugins" will be a sky replacement tool. Good video - and I do really like what ON1 is doing.

Excellent Video. Very Helpful. One question. If you buy Ocudrone skies through ON1, can those clouds also be used in Luminar Neo or Photoshop? I don't want to buy Skies and then be stuck with just one application to use them in. I cannot find where they keep skies on the Windows file system in order to share with other apps. Any help would be wonderful!😉

I have both Luminar and ON12022 and find ON12022 better on subjects with trees in reflections. In the example you gave the trees in the reflection of Luminar have the original sky in them, it does not change the sky in the reflection the same as in the actual sky. But considering how far they have come they are both amazing.

Great video, Anthony. I use Photoshop for sky replacement and have no experience with the other two. However, if On1 outputs as new layers (I don't know, does it?) then that is a clear winner. BTW I use the scale reduction in Photoshop at times, when I crop the original image from landscape to portrait.

Anthony: what you didn't mention re On1PR2022 is that you can edit the mask that is the basis for its sky replacement module. This gives a lot more ability to refine the image. On1PR2023 has just been announced and will include improvements to sky replacement as well as 125 Ocudrone skies.

In Luminar NEO the sky clouds can cast shadows so you see this on the building.

I bet the three developers are hearing you loud and clear Anthony. If not already working on their own sky replacement limitations ably described in your video, hopefully they will get right to it. The stiff competition among these three developers compel them to do so in my view.

Luminar will give up before Photoshop if the area for the sky is partial e.g., a tree occupies part of the sky all the way to the top or in an urban scene between buildings. Luminar won't recognize the sky if the area it occupies is too small whereas Photoshop will hang in there longer.

AI == Absurdly Included IMHO: much of this "Intelligence" is not deep learning code but just sales and "me too!" gimmickry.

Thanks! Looks like Luminar did a poor job masking around the reflected trees, but ON1 did the masking around the reflected sky much better.

Later people become aware of the sky brush in Photoshop (plus and minus).

In Neo, if you have no control of the reflection, it's just chance. Unacceptable.

The masking of the trees in the water on the Luminar version are terrible! There's no comparison with the On1 version. Quite surprising & very disappointing.

Or, you could do it the old fashioned way and actually put in the work in the field and wait for a compelling sky before you photograph!

I can imagine that conversation with my real estate agent clients. Sorry I lost you that listing but I couldn't shoot that property last month there simply wasn't a good enough sky and I'm way too professional to fake it... I'd be unemployed real fast 😂

@@waynegrayson4530 thats not the right attitude Wayne. If you want to stand out to clients you should work on your weather control skills. Everyone knows real pros manipulate the weather with their mind to get the shot.
