I agree about the wings, sometimes they’re not that good. As someone with a heavy flow, I don’t mind a chunky pad at night as it feels safer against leaks. Plus I’m a deep and long sleeper so rather not use a tampon

So when I got my period at 10 I started with pads, but I never liked the feeling of literally having a diaper and I have a heavy flow so I frequently ended up leaking with them, specially sleeping! So later when I was about 14/15 I switched into tampons and I loved them! The only down side to them was how dry it felt putting them in because I used the non applicator ones, I had to change them every 2 hours because of my heavy flow and also sometimes I leaked with them. THEN about a year ago, at the age of 22 I got to try my first menstrual cup and it was the best decision I have ever made. I never leaked, it can look scary but it is super easy to use and I can use it for a full 12 hours!!! That's amazing because you can literally forget about your period and just have your regular life without having to worry about when's your next tampon/pad change! I really advise everyone to try a menstrual cup not just because of saving money or the environment, but because it is more comfortable to use, you can safely use it for a lot more hours, you don't have to carry a whole box of supplies when traveling and it's actually safer since you don't end up having residues of cotton inside of you like it happens with tampons

Do you think that the slim flex cup would work for a 13 year old? Also if I put it in before school would it be good all day at school? One last question- (sorry lol) are they alright for sports/working out?

@@xroses6270 if you can use tampons and you don't find that's uncomfortable to insert them (for example if you're a virgin) then yes that could be a good cup for you! I have a super heavy flow and in the first day I switch mine 3 times during the day just to be safe, but in the other days I put it in the morning around 8 and I can use them for the full 12 hours so yes tou can!! And yes, they are great for sports because if you insert it properly you won't feel it to the point that you kinda forget that you're on your period

I want to thank you guys, and other creators like you guys who talk about period stuff and other things that come with growing up that are kinda... taboo, and just not talked about in today's society. I'm an adult, but watching you videos has made it less awkward even for me to go shopping for my own products. I used to get in and out of the feminine isle as quickly as I could so for a very long time I stuck with a brand and style that I only kinda liked because I knew what they looked like so I could grab them and get out. With you and other creators talking about this stuff not only have I found a brand and style that I prefer and like a whole lot more than I used to use, I also no longer worry about trying to "hide" them in my basket. I tend to have a light to medium flow, and I really like the Always FlexFoam pads that Klai was holding because they don’t feel like a big diaper but their not too thin. You don’t even remember that you’re wearing them. If you’re like me and don’t like tampons then I highly recommend those, especially if you’re active.

Yes! I’m typically a menstrual cup girlie but the flex foam pads are the best technology in pads I’ve ever experienced. No leaks, super absorbent, thin, flexible, comfortable, and no weird plastic feel to them.

I love that you guys are so open to talk about this kind of thing together. My mom and I don't really talk a lot about it but for some reason I feel so much more comfortable going to my friends and talking and comparing our cycles and the products that we use just cause we are all kinda going through it at the same time (I don't know if anyone else can relate but that is just how I feel). As far as the products I use go, on the first couple days of my period when my flow is the heaviest, I generally where both a pad and a tampon because I just feel a lot more secure and I am not as worried that I may leak. Then on my last few days of my period when my flow is lighter, I generally just wear a pad but you kinda have t play it by ear and figure out what works for you and your body. For tampons, I prefer to Tampax Pearl ones like Rach does and for pads I like the U by Kotex ones that Klai had picked out. Those are just my personal preferences though and again, everyone and every body is different so you kinda just have to try a few different things and figure out what works for you. Sorry this was so long lol I just had a lot to say 😂😂

same here I feel much more comfortable talking to friends then my mum. I started using pads and only tampons when I had to and now I use period underwear which I really recommend you can get heavy flow and light flow protection and I have a heavy flow and I have never leaked through

I don't even feel comfortable bringing up the topic, I don't know maybe because it's a taboo topic in my culture or otherwise it's just the type of relationship I have with my mum. I remember getting my period at 12 and honestly, I hated using pads! By the time I got to age 16, I ended up using tampons for almost 4 years. (I used tampons during the day and pads at night). I noticed how my cycles changed over the years! I started using the cup 2 months ago and I'm never going back to pads or tampons! When I started using it, my cramps were gone!!

I have tried Kotex Security, Playtex Sport, and Tampax Pearl and Radiant. Personally, I have a very heavy flow and I like the Tampax Pearl Super Plus tampons the most! :) My favorite pads (which I only use at night are the Always Infinity pads sizes 2 and 4) Hope this helps a human out there. :)

Try the l brand the pockets are ok but the full length are better but I haven't tried the pads but hope this helps you out because organic is sooo much better for you and the applicators are bio plastic so they biodegrade in 3-6 months instead of 200 years!!

I love reusable pads from Party In My Pants. They have a quiz you can take and they will recommend a style for you. The first one you pick is free, all you pay is shipping. It’s their cloth pad curious program. I’ve tried an Intimina Lilly cup that collapses and has a storage case, but it was way too painful for me. It’s the same problem I have with tampons. I can only stand them for swimming. I love the Always Infinity pads! I get an allergic reaction to most other pads including the regular Always Ultra Thins and Maxi’s. No problem with the flex foam. They really do what their ad says. No wet feeling whatsoever. It would be cool to see you look at “vintage” period products. We’ve come a long way from the sanitary belts my mom used in the 50’s and 60’s.

Love this my mom did this with me and my twin when we were tweens-teenagers I would recommend organic brands yes their pricey but so much better pads and tampons or period undies or the period diapers at night if one hates wearing pads different sizes for different flows I’m 27 so I have an emergency kit-period kit myself I pack wipes medicine tampons liners pads little trash baggies not every bathroom has a trash can in it or nearby snacks water or raspberry leaf tea or hibiscus tea for cramps I recommend taking multi-vitamin and probiotics too muscle rub or heating patches for on the on back or muscle pain just random things for hygiene-makeup-perfume for anxiety essential oil or for the adults only cbd gummies for mood and to be calm Mints or something for nausea ginger ale if you work were you can’t carry a pouch or your bag strict rules I would suggest getting the hair ties that have zippers you can fit tampons in pads to depending on the size liners for sure. or a very small bag that can fit in your pocket in travel size items only just my opinion and tips I use to each it’s own we are all different and I deal with endometriosis so my cycles are something crucial off and on

I use the “Cora” pads and panty liners cuz there organic. Another brand I like to use is “Rael” (also organic) and for cramp reliever I use “Midol”. Hope this helps anyone looking for products! 😊 Edit: And I’m probably going to use organic tampons when the dance season starts up again. I just got my first one on July 5th. But these are the products I’m liking, and my mom has recommended! 😊

This was actually very helpful. My daughter is at the age when she would be starting her menstrual soon but my mom didn't introduce me to different varieties like this. I learned the rest on my own. She introduced me to pads with wings or without. 🤷‍♀️ I tried out tampons on my own. So I figured out what worked for me eventually. I personally stuck w always pads because other types I have tried were kind of sensitive and irritated my skin. I like the kit Idea w the bags. Mine I always just had thrown n my purse so the bags are more organized.

I think this video will help a lot of girls who are just starting this kind of stuff.I gave my friends daughter some pads when she was 10 she was kind getting moody and she was developing. It turns out she didn’t get her period until she was 12 last year. If I had a daughter I tell her about periods at 9 and make sure she has a kit when she is about 11 or 12.

Don’t be scared of a tampon. They’re great. Just give it a try. You will get used to them, and once you get the hang of putting them in right then you won’t feel them. Once i started using them regularly I never went back to pads again. Relax while putting them in. There is nothing wrong with putting one in and there is no where for it to go. No it won’t get stuck. Go for it and give it a try.

I prefer cloth pads. I made some of them but you can find them on various websites and Etsy. I like them cause they are very comfortable and I don’t have to buy stuff every month just wash them like the period underwear. I use them at work even and nobody knows cause they are basically silent.

One thing that I think you guys should have put in the kit, is little chocolates for cravings. Also, if you want to be a bit more sanitary, you can get disposable period panties which I find great for nighttime. But on heavier days you might want to wait to put them on a half hour before you go to bed to put them on. :)

Ok here is a tip for if your period kits, keep pain killers those things will help out sooo much, like if you or your friends start having having really bad cramps in class then you should definitely bring them so you don’t feel like your dying half the time (hope this helps everyone!) 😄

I first started my period only using pads but by the time I was on about my third of forth period I switched to tampons and I only use pads at night. The pads I use at night are the kotex heavy night pad. I don't really have a certain tampon brand that I like but I basically use only heavy tampons for my heavy flow
