I've picked up a 2024 Honda Rancher 420 4x4 es green

Polaris actually advertises the 450/450 h.o. as a 499cc engine. Meaning, it's the same size as the old sportsman 500 models. Such as my 02 sportsman 500 h.o.

Just the Prostar vs the old Fuji motor which has a pull start just in case. Wish the Prostar had one.

Test rode all the comparable units. Went with the 450 HO eps because the size of it matched my body size. 😆 More comfortable to sit on. I like the on-demand awd. Brought it home a couple of weeks ago. Out the door price, incl. the 7% Iowa tax....$7338.30. They knocked it down to $6595. Great price for an awesome ride.

I've talked to the Service technicians at about every dealer in a 100 mile range and all told me to buy a Honda for the Reliable

You normally see old Hondas like from the 80s still running even been previously abused a Polaris usually will fall apart pretty quickly

I instantly walked away from the Polaris when I saw how HUGE it is! Got me a Rancher! Love it!

I went with the Polaris because of its overall size. 👍🏻

Honda's are long-term more reliable than polaris, and the dealers know it. When you want reliability and simplicity you buy Honda. Anyone with real world experience around these ATVs and they're not biased towards either one will tell you how they see more problems from a Polaris

Your summary is bang on. I have two Hondas. One is the Foreman 500 (2005)… used every day on the farm and still going like the day I brought it. Maintenance is key, it’s been serviced regularly and have had minimal costs. The 420 with power steering was delivered in April…I haven’t used it yet, but will do when calving starts. I looked at others, but there’s always something tapping my brain saying ‘ Honda, reliable, simplistic, longevity and resale’…so I just stick with them!

Honda rides like crap. No hp.

@@HappyRZRrider right, a straight axle over Polaris's independent suspension is done purely to lower the cost. One coilover shock too.

I can't believe in 2024 there is still a 4 wheeler with a solid axle.

I bought a new rancher 420 irs dct this may. I did swap the wheels and went to 25" tires. It's a great machine. Have already put a couple hundred trail miles on it and used it for setting up deer stands and yard work. Love that thing. Well my wife decided she wants to go ride trails also so I just purchased a new Polaris 450 HO. I haven't got to ride it yet but I'm looking forward to comparing the two myself. Kinda nice to have both honestly because their were things I liked and disliked about each. It will also be interesting to see how they hold up compared to each other long term. I've been riding ranchers for 20 years so I know what to expect out of it. They are traditionally bulletproof machines but I always ran the foot shift models so the dct is new to me. It's fun and simple to ride so hopefully it holds up just as well.

4 months in and the 2023 sportsman 450 ho has electrical issues. Ignition switch flickering the digital dashboard. Wont start, power cuts off. Wont get another polaris again.

No comparison between the Honda and Polaris, the Honda is quality and will last for years, the Polaris is JUNK!!.............When I needed a laugh I used to go to the Polaris comment boards where everyone there was looking for advice on how to fix their sportsman's

I needed a 4wheeler for my business. 20 yr old Hondas were $3k. I don't remember seeing any older Polaris atvs for sale. Hondas are made in South Carolina in a non-union plant. Even though Polaris atvs are cheaper up front, I bought a new Honda rancher because I know it's well made and will last for 20+ years and keep a third of its value. The Polaris isn't made like that.

Huh? We've used most all the major ATVs and currently the only three we still are a couple of Polaris and one Honda, have around 30,000 miles on all give or take. We use them constantly for work, most daily, haven't noticed a difference in reliability. We have a 2002 & 2004 500 Sportsman that we've only had to replace the belts and one cv on. The 2004 Honda 450 Foreman ES had a melt down with the transmission but I still think that was a little of us and a little of Honda with the newish transmission. All have been super dependable, but we generally aren't looking for mud holes to put them in either. We've added a couple of Rangers and the reason we went with the Rangers is locally it's easier to work with our Polaris dealer over the Honda guy but if we had to use the Pioneer I don't think we'd be going backwards. Each have their good and bad. Just need to look to see which one will take care of you needs. The only ATV we've used that we didn't care for at all was the Kawasaki. We only had one, their probably ok but didn't suit our needs.

If you like to work on stuff, get the polaris. If you care about reliability get anything but a Polaris.

Okay first of all Polaris is ugly very very cheaply built plastic racks gimme a Break who in the right mind would buy an ATV with plastic racks maybe a little kids toy ATV Honda has the steel racks the durability reliability way better looking it will hold this value a lot better do you have a real ATV that you can go against the Honda with otherwise these videos are just a waste of time Claire's needs to stop making junk like Can-Am when are these two companies going to get it right when they're out of business lol
