They kinda look the same ... so what's the difference between the AdvancedFrame Sport, the AdvancedFrame Ultralite and the AdvancedFrame inflatable kayak?
This video compares performance on the water, set-up time, weight, capacity and price of all 3 kayaks.
If you would like me to choose for you, I just need a bit of info from you here:

AdvFrame Ultralite uses lighter (more expensive!) materials and hold 225 lbs. No inflatable coming for a spray skirt. Calm days only. AdvFrame Sport model uses the same tougher (heavier) materials as Adv. Frame but only one inflatable tube. Hold 250 lbs. No coming for a spray skirt. I have that one. Love the yellow. AdvFrame has 2 inner tubes hold 300 lbs. Inflatable coming. Comes in red, green, & blue.

A note for high air/water temperature differences... the air will contract a little after some time out in cold water, so be careful it doesn't end up over inflated if you pull it out.

This video is very helpful. Although I dont live near the ocean, the Advanced Frame with the ability to attach a spray skirt is an attractive option for colder kayaking. I live in Ohio. And i dont want to give up kayaking every October. The skirt may give me more months to be paddling. In the water earlier and staying longer in the fall.

Yes, it's a great option isn't it? It really lengthens the season.

The AdvancedFrame kayak is great, heavier than the Firefly, but better to paddle. Cheers, Emily.

I used my new advanced frame yesterday. It was windy , but had no problems. It was fairly easy cutting trough the wind Some people say it s almost as good as hard shell. I disagree, the hull surface is a bit rough surfaced and there are wrinkels in the fabric. A hard shell smooth surface is still much better. Also the footpump I got was not 100 percent perfect. Parts of the pump and valve parts don t fit nice, so I been having problems and complaint on the phone. Those pumps , the guy on the phone admitted saying the pumps are likely to leak, It s brand new !...So it was kinda very hard work for me, struggling and having to make adjustments to get this pump to work. I have a slipped disk, sciatica. So it became painfull and stressfull for me just trying to pump it up. With a working pump indeed it will take minutes. Also after a few hours paddling the fabrick by the sides fornt of kayak where you get a lot of slpashing, inside was wet ? So I am worried. I was only using it a copple hours on a dry day. The fabric on top seems to soak up water. And the kayak was thus a bit heavier(wet) for me to carry home 1km on foot+luggage. Another downside, dirt sticks to fabric and in long gaps. I have ordered a backbone, I would like dropstich, spray skirt.. it all means very high cost in the long run My next kayak will be a hard shell.

We mostly sell the hand pump, it is much more powerful, but having said that, I've never had those sort of problems with the foot pump - did you get the Advanced Elements branded one? And did you get the inline valve adapter to go with it? Regarding the wetness, maybe that happened because it wasn't inflated to high enough pressure - did you use a pressure gauge? Cheers, Emily.

Thanks for the informative video, Emily. I love my Riot Edge but at 56, I'm getting less and less inclined to heft it up on the roof of the car. I only found your kayaks by a chance facebook advert - they look great. How is their puncture resistance? - particularly in the lighter weight models - I'm thinking submerged/dead redgum branches in places like Hattah Lakes NP (Vic) - I occasionally hear a branch scraping on the underside of the Riot's hull.
@OzinflatablekayaksAu
@OzinflatablekayaksAu 4 жыл бұрын
They are very tough. You might get some cosmetic scratches, but you really don't need to worry about the hull. The thing you need to be careful of is heat - if you take the kayak out of the water and you're not packing it up straight away, let some air out so the pressure doesn't increase with the heat. Cheers, EMily.

I have seen adds that say the red one takes 200kgs?
@OzinflatablekayaksAu
@OzinflatablekayaksAu 4 жыл бұрын
Definitely not - the AdvancedFrame Kayak takes 136kg. The tandem version (AdvancedFrame Convertible kayak) takes about 250kg. Be aware that because Advanced Elements is an American brand, they often quote capacity in pounds.

@@OzinflatablekayaksAu sorry my mistake, it was the expedition light I think. They all look very similar. Maybe you can help me? Next year I'm heading to India to kayak 2500km down the Ganges river to document the people and the rivers health. I need a really good yak that will do the job. I'm 6f 80kgs and I may need a lot of gear maybe 50kgs? I would really appreciate some advice on what blow-up yak will do the job? Thank you 🛶

If you are going to sell your stuff in the USA- use pounds. We never adopted the metric system thank God.
@Thorny5718
@Thorny5718 4 жыл бұрын
David Charlesworth mate Oz still use Imperial and metric, obviously they get that from their days as being a part of Grat Britain. Though I think they tend to use metric more than imperial now. It’s not difficult to convert. We use metric in the GB now, but we still switch to imperial system frequently. Still use feet and inches, miles and stones. We invented the system, so it’d be a bit nuts if we never, though we are slowly adopting more of these European ways 😂

@@OzinflatablekayaksAu If your KZbin presentation was only for Australian residents, that would make sense (using metric). But for the 300 plus million Americans, we use pounds. What you could and should have done is put pounds in brackets next to the metric. Just as a courtesy.

@@davidcharlesworth648 You should join the rest of the world and learn the metric system. Americans almost never put metric measurements in brackets as a courtesy to the 7 billion plus non Americans, we have to translate your ludicrous measuring systems all the time, and you can do the same.
