You could always put the sustain pedal on the right side of the 600 and work backwards starting with loop 3 and work down. Did it all the time with the 300 because of where the expression pedal and effects button were located. That would also help with hitting the nob on the track 3

you can change up what the 4 switches all do... may be helpful to put the memory jog switch in the 2nd slot and something a little less dramatic if accidentally pressed in knob number 1. I hooked up my 505Mk2 to my 600 via Midi and it's an absolute blast to play it all together. The FX and bounce-features are where this thing shines.

you may get to this later in the video, but there's a different mode for the mode selector button. I hate having to wait to use the 3rd mode, so I changed the mode to the incremental one, instead of the default click between 1/2 and hold for effects on 3. easier just to click through them 1-2-3-1... need to update that button on all 3 modes to get it accomplished
@bigskybob2 жыл бұрын
sorry that wasn't clear. pedal mode inc is the setting you can swap out on pedal 7 if you want to use the effects... or... use the setup I created... one mode which lets you record and stop the target track, buttons to inc/dec target track, and the rest of the buttons for input effects so you can quickly cycle between effects while recording across different tracks, and not have to leave the mode. Plus a bunch more features I’m forgetting about at the moment. I have a RC3 but the day I brought it home I knocked it off of my amp and broke the volume knob off. @EmilyMcVicker2 жыл бұрын
Hey Miguel! You know, the 600 or the 300 would be great for you. But they are different sizes and that might be something to consider with any current pedal set up you’re working with. The 300 works so great. But the 600 does have such a clearer sound and higher bitrate and all that. Those would be the biggest factors to consider. If you wanna loop vocals and more than just guitar, I would not recommend any single track loopers like the RC-1 because you’ll grow out of it too fast. That’s my 2 cents :) Lemme know how it goes!

So.. on the old RC-300 I only use the bass effect. I have assigned the effects button to the bass effect and when pressed, it is immediate (without holding the button down) for recording on any track - (very easy to quickly record a baseline). Is it possible to create this same scenario on the RC-600 except assign 1 button for the bass effect and another button for the harmony effect? My thoughts are to assign the "Track select" button for the bass effect and the "undo/redo" button for the harmony effect. Is this possible and if so, how do you assign these 2 specific tracks and have the chosen effect work immediately upon pressing on all the other channels which are assigned for recording?
@EmilyMcVicker Жыл бұрын
Ya you can totally do that 👍 you can do all the switch assignments the same way. In the pedal modes, you just have to go to the specific switch on the pedal mode of your choosing and scroll through all the options it can do. So you can assign any switch to be the bass FX. You’ll assign bass to one of the input FX (ABCD) and then tell the switch to use that input FX on that switch 🤘😆

@@EmilyMcVicker Thanks for the replies! It will be interesting to see where all this 'looper' tech takes us, where it goes from here, loopers are taking on the appearance of processors, and processors have long been attempting. to take on the role of loopers, lol. The issues that you raised are things that also would concern me, I hope, you get this pedal sorted to the point where it covers all the bases for you. I may opt for the RC500, I only need to lay down simple rhythm tracks and use the onboard drums, but I need wav or mp3 export to my laptop which I think the 500 has. The older RC30's weren't acceptable to me due to the terrible sound quality of recording loops vs guitar quality, if I went for great guit quality sound, the looped track would be compromised and/or, visa versa, I think it was 24 bit rate, hopefully the newer 32 bit solves that issue.

The single play feature does not work in the same way on the Boss RC-600 as it does on the Boss RC-300. If you want the recorded tracks to be played in sequence (for example track 1 is the verse, track 2 is the chorus and track 3 is the bridge) things get messed up on the Boss RC-600 if the different tracks have different lengths. The Boss RC-300 doesn't have this issue while almost all other Boss loopers on the market are also having this issue (I got confirmation from users having a Boss RC-500, and both the Boss RC-505 mk1 and mk2).
@WVNicholson2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure about that in the case of the Boss RC-500. I think there may be an obscure setting (maybe LOOP_SYNC, possible in conjunction with one or two others) buried in the Parameter Guide available as a PDF but which does not come with the pedal. Then again, I only just got a new RC-500 so I may be in for an unpleasant surprise.

@@EmilyMcVicker the workaround is setting loop sync to on while recording the single tracks and setting loop sync to off when playing back the single tracks (keep in mind that the loop sync of a single track that is being played can not be changed, it has to be stopped before changing it). For the Boss RC-505 mk2 there are shortcuts to do this (pressing the track button 3 times will lead you to the right screen, then you can press the third knob to change the loop sync setting). Hopefully Boss can alter this behaviour in their next firmware update. On the Boss RC-300 the loop sync can stay off for all single tracks both during recording and playback which is far more convenient. Another workaround is setting rec quantize setting from measure to off and tempo sync to off for all single tracks (but then the internal rhythm or metronome of the looper can not be used). In that way it doesn't even matter what value the loop sync setting has, it doesn't have to be changed at all.

awesome 👌 I'm wondering if you know how to set the looper in this way. I've tried heaps but can't quite get there. Bank 1 loop set to me dialing in a short locked in drum beat so I only need to play it short as poss. I then want to lock in a loop in bank 2 say for 12 bars. I want to add another part in bank 3 and for that to be locked in with bank 2 bars. I feel this free loop doesn't make the banks 2&3 tight enough. I want bank three to come in after recording at the same loop length as I've recorded in bank 2.

@@EmilyMcVicker Thank you. Yes routing will be super helpful!! I see you are using 2 mics and I never loop vocal because I'm always concerned about bleed from a loop track vocal mic when I open up a track to even record just a guitar part. The mic then becomes hot and introduces the bleed and creates a volume increase. Seems like some people use a gate until they are ready to actually use the 2nd mic? So far I've tried to make do with a Ditto X2. The RC600 seems like the answer to my prayers, but could I get away with something less elaborate?

Yes! I designated a switch that I put on pedal mode three that clears all the tracks with one click. And in practice, I’m finding I don’t actually use much of the effects. Just because in a performance, I am so much more focused on my singing and connecting with the audience, that I personally just don’t use them. But if I did, I would put them on a FS6 so that they’d be readily accessible. Or I would just use extra guitar pedals. I don’t love the pedal modes because I don’t like all the clicking around during performance. That’s my experience.
