Mark Hamill IS The Joker. Most of the Joker voices after him were just trying to copy what he already did. That gleeful blend of comedy and chaos that Hamill brought when he made the Joker his own just created the Joker as we know him today. I can't read The Joker's lines in comics without hearing Hamill's voice - hell, I can't read the dialogue from Joker-like characters without Hamill's voice. To this day, I imagine Hamill's voice when reading Kefka's dialogue in Final Fantasy VI. The only person who even came close was John DiMaggio. And that was only because he tried to do the same thing - he brought his own unique and twisted perspective to the character and it was different - but definitely enjoyable. It's just impossible to top Hamill.

Exactly. He's bringing nothing new or original to the character. Just attempting to copy what Hamill did. And no - he didn't succeed. I'm sorry, but you can't duplicate what Hamill brought to the voice. DiMaggio deserves credit for doing something different and actually having fun with it and attempting to make it his own. And it was different, but it was still enjoyable. Baker is trying to get the lightning that Hamill caught in a bottle to stay in the bottle.

I love Mark’s because his interpretation of the joker seems to be a bit different than everyone else’s. His has a deep raspiness to it, which contradicts his character, but also suits it completely. He seems funny but he’s dangerous. Kevin’s is good, but I don’t know, I feel like it seems so forced. Mark’s had a bit of calmness to it that always scared me when I was a kid haha.

As much as I love Hamill's Joker, I hope more actors can do their own Joker voice. A lot of these are just impressions of Mark Hamill's like Troy Baker. We need more original takes like Dimaggio's, and Anthony Ingruber (Telltale Joker/John Doe).

Honestly, i'm sick of seeing Troy Baker's name everywhere. Mainly because, while he used to be strongly attached to dubbing, he just doesn't talk about it anymore. He left a few projects in the middle of them; he just seems to have become a celebrity, and I can't really dig his work. I very much love Travis/Laura for their acknowledgement of their old fanbase. Steven Blum is also a guy that, while he is also in many video games (most of which I don't play, as my computer is *awful*), I've always had burned into my brain as TOM and a dozen Digimon characters.

So I can honestly tolerate him being everywhere; I generally assumed as a youngster that it was just a common voice type that many people had. But just seeing Troy Baker "usurp" all these iconic roles is annoying. I honestly recognized Richardson's version of Joker the best, but I know that Mark Hamill is in fact the iconic version. Baker played friggin' Batman, what's next, putting Peter Cullen out of business?

I noticed that before Mark Hamill, the voices were all over the place. So when Mark took over he recreated the whole Joker theme and everyone there after have tried to recreate his tone and accent. So to put it out there Mark Hamill is and always will be the true voice of the Joker.

Ursae Majoris Completely change? No. Make something that was his own? Of course. The voice of a character is not set in stone. Different voices and interpretations are common especially when you have a long running series. The Joker himself has gone through numerous changes ranging from a goofy clown to a murderous psychopath. Sure there's talent in being able to imitate a voice no matter what's said, after all just repeating a line over and over from an episode does not mean you can truly imitate the voice. However it lacks creativity. He wasn't fresh, the only fresh bit was the look and he didn't influence that. In fact if he changed I wouldn't have been bitching at all. In fact my favorite Jokers all are different. Hamill, Ledger, Nicholson, DiMaggio and Richardson are all my top favorite Jokers. They all brought their own thing to the character. Hamill may be the staple but each of the others has things he doesn't that make their Jokers very enjoyable. Troy sounds simply like he was trying to sound like Hamill's and that's it. Not bringing his own twist, not making the character his own and not using his creativity to make a memorable Joker. After all, apart from this video and others like it comparing voices of Joker, I've never heard anyone even mention Arkham Origins or it's Joker. Some playing may even think that it's just Hamill doing it it's so similar. A character's appearance and personality may be set in stone but not everything is. We see that in many shows, especially if they're long running. Just look at the Doctor from Doctor Who. Even the various movies and tv shows of Batman don't use the same voices for all characters do they? Imagine if in the Dark Knight they got Hamill to be Joker. Would it really have been as successful? Or if it was Jack Nicholson? They succeeded because they brought something new to the characters, more than just their appearance changing slightly.

Mark is truly an amazing joker, and everyone wants to sound just like him which made me like Kevin Michael Richardson. Kevin sounds completely different and sounds perfect to me. If i had a choice if mark hamill couldn't voice joker anymore, i would have kevin voice joker. Idk it's like kevin made joker funny yet dangerous at the same time. Plus kevin joker is the only one to know some what fighting skills
