The solution to speed up store & retrieval times by having the next tray ready as soon as the tray in the opening is finished with has a number of solutions. In this video we see the intrinsic design fault of the Modula twin tray system. When the tray is in the upper position it can be difficult to reach to the back of the tray to pick or store items. Usually you would see steps in front of these types of machines that have this system, to enable all operators of any height to reach the back of the top tray. The two level twin tray system, which is employed by a number of manufacturers, introduces bad ergonomics and a potential trip hazard with steps in front of the machine. The solution for quick picking and correct ergonomics is solved by Weland with their COMPACT TWIN. The COMPACT TWIN system also uses the stronger and safer drive method of rack & pinion for the lift - the Rack & Pinion system does not have a main drive belt hence stretching or breaking are eliminated.
