I kinda like the shading and tone on many of the original enemies better, makes them seem more menacing. The NPC sprites, however, are undisputed upgrades. 👌

Its the black outlines the OG used that causes their shading to look super dramatic compared to the newer colored outlines. I can certainly understand tho, black shadows look out of place with the new backgrounds

The new sprites are very Mother 3 which looks good but it’s a really different style. I think I got a soft spot for the OG battle sprites but honestly it’s just a testament for how good the original sprites were

A trend you will notice is that OW sprites have 3 colors in their design for the OG and battle sprites have 3-4. This is because the NES could only contain up to 4 colors in a single sprite, transparent included. The redesigns are nice.

The enemies look pretty great, but I do wish the NPCs kept some of the Peanuts aesthetic, just higher fidelity
