Agree I love the polished wood pianos, shame most new ones now are the black polyester.

I'm really impressed to what level of refinement you're able to take these old pianos. They both sounds excellent, though I think the black one has a slightly more capable bass and the rosewood a slightly more articulate sound overall.

Does the Black not have duplex scaling? Thought I saw no evidence of the duplexes. Love the Rosewood tone and I'm sure the black will be lovely after the voicing. North America tends to like a brighter voicing but I do not share that choice and prefer a sweeter, richer, rounder sound. Thanks for this.

I have a 1905 Steinway O that has the old gothic script logo on the fallboard. Is that the original logo for 1905?

the black has more the noble and brilliant Steinway sound, but the other is a real dream

I have a 1913 model O, beautiful sound, but not easy to press some keys.

What does shimming mean?

Great question Edward, thanks for asking. Shimming is the process of filling the gaps in the soundboard where the wood has dried up and split apart. Evan Roberts
