Alot of Whiners on here for sure, if you dont wanna spend the money then by all means keep hand priming your cases. This is the best and easiest to use priming tool on the market to date. No more pain in your hands from the hand primers. This thing is built like a tank and should no doubt last damn near forever. Thanks Greg for an outstanding tool and thanks Gavin for another good video.

@@hellyeah3871 false. The primer creates your combustion and consistent seating depth of that primer will aid consistent combustion. Is this necessary for common reloaders? Nope. If you’re chasing to get the most out of your handloads and competing, certainly. You can also use this to tune your loads a bit by changing the primers seating depth.

Really enjoyed this video! Thank you for taking the time to create it.. Just received my new CPS and am installing it today. This will be replacing my old RCBS unit which worked fine - but was a little clunky and I had to rely on feel versious a positive stop setting. I prefer to buy the best tools possible and this unit is certainly not cheap. However I feel it was worth the cost. Should work well next to my 419 Zero press. Cheers from Leeds, Alabama!

I understand all the mechanics, but without a practical test showing the benefits I cannot determine if the investment is worth in results. I normally use a Lee bench primer($70) that primes at a similar speed and never gives me any trouble. You have to pull something really special to convince me that I need this seater.

I didn't think much of it at first, but after watching the podcast that Erik Cortina did with Greg, and having used the Frankfurt Arsenal adjustable hand priming tool, I was impressed. And honestly; the price is still high for me but as Greg says; it's not the most expensive thing I've bought for reloading. It falls pretty much in the middle of the pack. There's also the fact that the hand primer; while adjustable, has left me with a crooked primer in the pocket and after the fatigue sets in, quite a few primers that I had to double squeeze to get the depth I wanted. All in all; I'm sure it's worth it. I should have one soon 🤙

I’ve owned a great deal of primer seaters. Started out with hand tools and moved into the press units etc. I now own a couple of the PR seaters. Yes is expensive. And I noticed my most recent unit I purchased was slightly sloppy fit over all. And still, worth the money. If you’re loading 100 rounds here and there it’s probably not worth it to you . But to us they are invaluable. But we load allot of ammo. I’d like to see other companies take on this design and produce a more cost effective version.

Looks nice, too many loose parts, it only does one thing. I like the adjustable stop that is “click calibrated” one click is one thousandth. It’s a lot of money for something that does only one thing. For me personally, the bridge or “D” style, like RCBS and others of the same design are as equal in available push in power from the levers mechanical advantage. There are a ton of cool gadgets out there that do the same thing. Even though this gadget is sexy cool, .....for me personally I am not getting enough for my money. It’s not the cost. It is not giving me enough. But, it’s your money, spend it safely.

I did notice a review on the RCBS 9460 Automatic Priming Tool, looked impressive, what’s your thoughts? I have a “very old” RCBS Rock Chucker Kit. (like new in the box) I’ve only reloaded 20 rounds of 45 ACP and 20 rounds of 44 mag. I also need a way to clean my brass. Your video's are very imformative. Your the only one I trust. Thanks

Lol. How does this $600 tool accommodate the manufacturing tolerances built into the primers themselves not to mention the cases you are installing them into? If you seat six primers that are one overall height and then the next two are. 001" taller, does the tool just mash them down more? What if the primer after that is. 001" shorter than the first six but the lathe cut the rim on that case .0005" thinner? If you want your $600 worth of precision out of this tool it pretty much demands that you are sorting your primers by height and weight along with sorting your brass to make sure that you segregate any cases with variations in primer pocket to extractor groove to shoulder dimensions so that the primer will always have the same amount of insertion in the pocket and always be the same location in the chamber waiting for the firing pin. On the other hand, if all that is reasonably required is to repeatably squish the primers down to some set dimension away from the front of the rim just like this tool does any ram prime unit will do that for like $25 with $575 left over to buy a brand new press to screw it into and beverages to drink while you do it. The Lee Auto Prime 2 will even do it while feeding primers so that you don't have to handle them one at a time if you can find one on eBay.

It would be awesome to see a real world accuracy comparison if you kept everything else the same but just swapped out primer seating methods...particularly curious to see if there were any appreciable differences between primers bottomed out by feel in the RCBS hand priming tool (the one that accepts specific shellholders) VS primers seated to a certain 'set depth' in the Primal VS primers bottomed out by feel in the Primal... my theory is every once in a while you'll run into a primer pocket that is slightly deeper than the rest, which could result in a shallow seated primer for the Primal using the 'set depth'...if that holds true I would also presume the differences in performance between the bottomed out primers whether from the RCBS hand primer or the Primal would be negligible. I don't reload anything precise enough to do a test like this, and I only have the RCBS hand priming tool, otherwise I'd try to compare for myself :)

I'd love to see a shooting test comparing loads assembled with this precision primer seater vs. loads using the primer seater on the Dillon 750 (the test might consist of something like 5 groups of 5 shots each at medium-to-long range). I'd love to see the same kind of test comparing loads assembled using the 750 powder measure vs. those using a high-end precision scale (like the FX 120i). Given the rifle, brass, bullets, and shooter are all high-precision, I wonder how much difference the use of these tools would make in the shooting results.

Zero bull dust or look what I what you to buy from me. No bias just actual facts. So we can make the informed choice. I've got one, and probably primed 10,000 cases on it since I've had it. Is it worth it? Probably not. It's super well built, and very precise, but that generally doesn't show up on target. I've found it slower than my old RCBS and FA hand primers, with the added delay of having to use a primer tube. That said, it doesn't deform primers, misfeed, or have any of the occasional drama of a hand primer setup. Lastly, be wary about all the talk of "primer depth consistency". If you're not uniforming pockets to a measured depth, then it's all a moot point. I'll keep using mine, if only to feel better about the ~$600 it cost lol, but I wouldn't feel like I was disadvantaged by using my hand primers again.

Thats pretty much it when it comes to most of the, lets say, advanced products ans methods If you dont uniform the primers pocket the. Hmm, I can see how this benefits PRS people (for those of you who do not know what that is, precision rifle shooters), and those with disabilities. I would beg to differ your statement about this being made for the every day person though. Many hunters and weekend plinkers just want to shoot and are content with punching a tight group over a keyhole at 100-200 yards. I cannot see this being more beneficial for them at this price point. I'll probably end up getting it as I want to dabble in the long range world. Appreciate the in depth break down of it. Does look to be a fine tool

A Dillon rl 750 is 800 dollars with the case feeder plus a mr bullet feeder we get up to 1200 and you just need to use the lever to do everything primer seating, powder, bullet seating, crimping. And is a good ammo in a progressive semi-professional set up, 600 dollar for 1 operation is way to much, I understand the utility of a tool like this but the rl750 has a primer seater that is adjustable in a full press

I seat all my primers by feel, I test different primers, different powders, and different seating depths until it comes together.... I'm no comp shooter but! It's getting to be a bit rediculous, hearing if you want to be competitive in a comp you need a $10,000+ gun (depending what country you're in) and a $90,000 machine shop! I say this in jealousy 😂 and without any statistics (#disclaimer)

RCBS and Dillion have used primer feed tubes for years and I have used both. If a primer were to detonate, the primer shuttle holds the primer far enough from feed tube so as to not set off the whole contents of the feed tube. Operating a Dillion 550 and 1050, I’ve had primers detonate while seating. That is do to decapping the spent primer where the side of the primer cup stayed in the cartridge case primer pocket.

There were instances of old Lee round trays going off too, pretty much a case of user error though as far as I have seen, double feeds, cocked sideways etc. not a common as a tube incident, but, they happen as well. Haven't seen anyone mentioning it in a good while though, since they changed to the safety feed system on the Lee units. I can't justify spending 800.00 cdn on this tool though, it is quite a way overpriced in my mind, and I'm pretty sure he could sell them for 1/2 that if he really wanted to, and maintain quality.

My Frankford Arsenal hand primer and RCBS bench priming tools work well enough. For $600, maybe the designer could include a blast shield tube that would screw in tight and stop the primer tube wobble. BTW, Sinclair (Brownell's) has well-made stainless Lee-style shell holders that are nicer than Frankford Arsenal's. As long as you're spending six bills... Thanks for the video, Gavin!

Its not faster or more precise than anything else. It requires separate shellholders. Its just inferior to the competition. So why its so expensive? Another shooter on local range showed me that seater when I was considering buying something after my old one started having problems. I seriously though its going to be a budget alternative to Forster or RCBS table seaters but its like twice as expensive as both of them combined. Pathetic.

For $600 I would expect more quality..... You can see that thing moving around every time it gets used .. looks pretty sloppy in a lot of ways. The primer tubes don't look like they fit well, the primer shuttle looks a little cheesy as well. Base seems to allow flex for an operation that shouldn't take much force. I just finished some primer depth seating tests (actually concentrating more on primer anvil compression) and it won't turn standard precision loads into BR records. You can watch the videos from Witch Doctor and see what effects it has for him on his BR testing and while minimal it can improve, but it's not likely to be a universal setting for every primer type, cartridge or load. It's just one aspect of thousands to manage... and I can manage it for a whole lot less.
