In beta 1 it used nt 4.0 startup and shutdown but beta 2 & 3 did infact use the NT 5.0 startup. Shutdowns still 4.0 tho

The longhorn sounds are fake because Nostalgia Channel made a video about correct Windows startups and shutdowns. The sound comes from a Samsung PC or phone. Tho, it's still popular and many used the fake startup and shutdown.

Certain fake sounds only apply to one of the sounds instead of both, either with the startup (as in Server 2003) or the shutdown (as in NT 5.0). All post-Windows 7 OSes technically count under this too since Microsoft removed the ability to play a shutdown sound, even if people were convinced they had Windows 7's shutdown.
